How about a list of webtease authors sorted by average score... or better yet, some formula that incorporates the total amount of viewings the author's webteases has had, too, so that someone who wrote one 4.0 tease will rank much lower than someone who's written several webteases rated around 3.8 and are revisited over and over.
I don't know what the formula would be. Maybe something like how Rotten Tomatoes does it? See http://www.rottentomatoes.com/guides/be ... es/?nojs=1
It would be a great way to provide status, and would be automated.
Once done, you could even expand on this once in a while, like have "author's picks" lists each year, taking the top 20 tease authors, and looking at their votes (assuming you record who voted for what) for teases.
Webtease author rankings
Re: Webtease author rankings
I would find the proposed feature useful.
Re: Webtease author rankings
I like the idea of author's picks (or just user's picks) being available, because I think it's easier to find teases up your alley if can do it through somebody who has similar tastes.
As for author rankings, I am very much against that. I don't think that sort of meritocracy belongs in our community here. Rankings are far too subjective, and there are so many reasons to like or hate a tease, that I don't believe those scores should be used to evaluate our authors, all of whom are pretty great.

I think The Erotic Mind-Control Story Archive has a similair way of going about things, essentially readers can pick stories (teases) that they enjoy especially. They have a 'What I like' and 'What I dislike' along with a brief synopsis of why they like each story.
Worth a consideration, they do have a similair but more encompassing category system, although it's not as web 2.0 as milovana is.

Re: Webtease author rankings
I agree comparing one author against another is counter productive. But something where their work and their ratings are aggregated as a group. I would also suggest some kind of dropping of their worst rated work based on new and improved submissions. This would promote more quality and help new authors to get past lessor work from hurting their ratings as they contribute better work. This allows them to compete with themselves to improve the quality and ratings for those so motivated.
Just my opinion. I am not an author but someone who motivates people to excel in RL. I do enjoy many of the works here others have produced and thank everyone who puts them selves out there.

Re: Webtease author rankings
I dont think deleting low-rated teases is a good idea. If a tease is bad, its always possible to change it without uploading an improved version. Plus I've seen some good teases (or at least innovative ones i.e. T-Girl Jasmine teases) get really low ratings because theyre not to many peoples tastes. If people take the time and effort to create something it shouldnt be dropped because not many people like it.... plus uhh.. some of my teases have got a below 2 rating... and their my personal favouritesslavejoey wrote:I agree comparing one author against another is counter productive. I dont think author ratings is a good idea either Like others have said, theres no need for competition. Maybe there should be an option to make your favourite teases public so others can see what you liked. Also maybe a 'turns me on' 'turns me off' 'meh' kinda voting system, like ive seen on some porn-tube sites.
Re: Webtease author rankings
It would be good, though, if board users could put a list of their recommends- teases or authors- on their Profile page. A bit like the thread "Slavechylde recommends" but for everyone.
When I come across a new tease I really like, I always search for the author's past teases, bookmark the list, and check them out. (oooh my poor dick! such a lot of work for you!)
It would be great to be able to see quickly where good writers get their inspiration from. And chances are, if one likes the work of a particular author, one will like their "recommends" too.
Searching through the whole list of teases is becoming really arduous! And that's a very good sign! I well remember before Milovana started, after OrgasmDenial.com closed, and there weren't any teases to be had! Now we have too many to search through! Hurrah!

Re: Webtease author rankings
This reaction is not what I had expected. I'm already interested in who are the best authors here, and this would be a way to take Milovana's pulse on it. Such a scoring system would, admittedly, create competition, but scores and totm do that already, and I don't think that this additional system would do more harm than good.
*shrug*
But the origin of this suggestion was about navigation. I agree with several of you: I also like mcstories, and tnaflix, and fantasti.cc (http://www.milovana.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=2688) regarding how users' "favorites" can be both saved and public, so that you can worm through teases to find related ones you might not have seen before. I like that idea, too.
