I had an account awhile ago and I'm pretty sure it was deactivated for inactivity. I've been checking back over and over for a few months now and they haven't opened up for registration in that time. Any idea when they will reopen for registration?

A lot of links from here seem to point there and it is a little frustrating... wait maybe that is a good thing.... :)

I don't think they're thinking about re-opening registration any time soon. I don't know, I'm just getting a sense of that.

About your de-activated account ... I had a similar situation, but I found it quite easy to simply get on their chat-channel, which is linked from the log-in and/or registration pages, and wait a bit for one of the moderators to arrive and chat with me. When I did get someone, he very quickly rejuvenated my account. I don't know if you'll have enough information about your own past activity there to accomplish that as easily as I did, and I frankly can't recall what they did or didn't ask me to provide in order to get re-started. But it was a really straightforward process, no forms to fill out, just go on the mIRC web-page built-in chat that they link, go find the help channel, talk to the mod there, done.

Hope you can get yours re-activated like I did mine.

Yeah, the way to go about this is definitely to join the chat and ask about it. Explain the situation and be generally polite, and they'll probably help you out.

Five Years Anniversary

Today, the reincarnation of the original Empornium turns five. Reason enough to celebrate. To mix things up a little, we will not hold a sitewide Freeleech event this year. ... We would have preferred to open up registrations again on our anniversary, but unfortunately that is not yet possible, as not all new security measurements are in place yet. That unfortunately also is the reason why we can not give invites to all of our users ...

Seems they're working slowly on the site in some manner in order to create the possibility of opening up new registrations and / or spreading the wealth by means of more invitation possibilities. So hope is not gone for all of you outsiders wishing to get inside Empornium, not just yet.

Thanks for the update, I hope they allow registration again, I've been wondering what it's like for a while.

With security, they don't even have SSL encryption for the login page, so it could be quite easy to steal login details..
