Webtease Downloader/Viewer

Post by Polvish »

So i made this simple java program that lets you download, save, and view regular webteases.

Its super simple and i threw it together pretty quickly so you'll find some bugs around the edges.
Once you open the .jar theres a textbox for page id, this is the webtease id. So for:

https://milovana.com/webteases/showtease.php?id=164

the id is 164.

Once you enter in the id, click Go! and it will scrape, download, and save the webtease then display the first page.
If you have already downloaded one, enter in the id and hit Load! to load the tease.
To navigate just hit the < and > buttons to go to next/previous pages.

The downloading is a little slow so if i have some more time ill update it to a pipeline type architecture to speed things up.
Also the aspects of teases with rolling and moving multiple pages have crossed my mind so maybe ill do something with that.

Heres the link:

Let me know what you think, and let me know if this kinda thing isnt allowed and i'll take it down!

Great idea and nice job on the program! I've tried it with a few teases and it seemed to work just fine for all of them. It's great being able to save the non-flash teases for offline viewing, since we could only do it with the flash teases before.

I don't know how difficult it would be to do or if you are going to develop it further but the one thing that would be a nice addition would be associating the name of the tease with the teaseid for teases someone has already downloaded. If someone has a lot of teases downloaded it will be tough to remember which one is which, especially for some of those multi-part teases.

Well, that's not entirely true. Both TeaseMe and Philo's Java-based downloader have been able to handle standard "classic" teases since their very early versions.

Polvish, your work is appreciated. However, I'm not sure if you were aware that there was software available to do this already.

In any case, welcome to Milovana!

Hmm I've used TeaseMe and GuideMe a lot and somehow never knew it could do that. I knew it worked with flash teases but I guess I just never even tried loading a standard HTML tease. Thanks for the tip.

EDIT: I tried 4 different HTML teases with the Teaseme downloader and all of them had errors, but all 4 of those teases downloaded fine with this Webtease downloader/viewer. Philo's downloader just doesn't work at all for me. It just creates a blank ".xml" file in the assigned directory but never downloads any teases (even the flash ones)

Hmm. :-/ Well, that's odd.

I've always used TeaseMe to download teases of both kinds. I don't ever recall a standard tease throwing an error; it can surprisingly even handle the rare ones with streaming video in them.

And with Philo's downloader, I had never tried a standard tease with his until I saw this thread. So I downloaded Futa Snakes and Ladders 2 from the front page as a test and it looked just fine when I viewed it in TeaseMe. (Didn't try GuideMe.) Your issue with a blank .xml file sounds more like a permissions issue or something, since you say you've never had any luck with it even with flash teases.

In any case, I think it's great that Polvish wrote his downloader because it looks like it has definitely filled a need for you! :-)
