Madeline would like to apologize to Miss Linda for vanishing and to her sisters for abandoning them. At the end of May, i caught a nasty head cold. A week later it turned into an even worse chest cold. Two weeks later the symptoms cleared up, except for some fluids built up in my ear. So basically I felt like crap the entire month of June.

The first week of July, the cold symptoms came back, only this time I began gaining weight and had no energy at all. The second week I was even worse, my feet were swelling up, and i had gained nearly 50 pounds. i thought it was from laying around sleeping all day. On Thursday night i began to experience shortness of breath and vertigo. Thinking i was getting an inner ear infection i went to the Urgent Care Friday morning. The doctor there took my blood pressure and because it was 188 over 132 they sent me to the emergency room.

At the hospital they drew blood, did an EKG and quickly hooked me up to an IV and put me on oxygen. Three hours later they told me i was suffering from congestive heart failure, and that because of the fluids building up in my body, my kidneys were in danger of shutting down. They started me on medicines to flush the fluids from my system and admitted me.

I spend most of the day Saturday getting rid of 5 liters of fluids and having all kinds of tests done. On Sunday i was awakened by a peppy cardiologist that sat on the edge of my bed and told me that if i hadn't come into the hospital when i did, i would either have come by ambulance later that day or died in my sleep, when i drowned from all the fluids in my lungs.

It took 3 days to drain enough fluids off to stabilize my kidneys to the point that they could survive the dye from a cardiac catheterization. Funny story: i hadn't shaved in almost a week and asked the nurse if she could get me a razor. She told me she would look for one. A little later i came out of the bathroom, and there was this 7 foot tall, 300 pound black man in my room. He said he was there to shave me. i thanked him as I rubbed the stubble on my face. He smiled and said "Not there!" In order to prep me for the procedure they had to shave the hair from my chest and groin. As a submissive i usually keep my pubic hair shaved off or at least trimmed real short, but i've had hair on my chest since i was 14.

They wheeled me down to the operation room and doped me up before running a wire through a vein in my right wrist all the way to my heart. They then injected the dye and watched it flow through my heart on a video screen. Three arteries in my heart were blocked by chunks of plaque that most likely broke loose when i was coughing my lungs out during the chest cold.

My kidneys were too week to survive the amount of dye needed to open the arteries at that time, so they loaded me into an ambulance (cross that off the bucket list) and sent me across town to a hospital with a kidney lab. Because they could monitor my kidneys and were there to intervene if something went wrong, they were able to get more aggressive with the lasix. Over the next week I urinated out the equivalent of 25 two liter bottles of soda and lost close to 80 pounds.

When the fluids were almost gone and my kidney numbers headed in the right direction, the again shaved me, and went back in through my wrist to clear the blockages and insert two stents into my heart. A normal human heart pumps at 60%. When i arrived at the hospital mine was pumping at 30%. Since the procedure it has returned to 45%. It took me the better part of two months to recover my stamina and mental functions. i have to take nine different medicines every day, but i'm alive.

The time that i spent doing "Whatever Miss Linda wants" did however change me. my parents came to visit for Thanksgiving. We spent the better part of 10 days shopping. The other day while at TJ Maxx i saw an emerald green turtleneck sweater dress and thought to myself "i wish i could afford to buy and wear that!"
