Tease Formatting

Do you think Milovana.com is perfect in every way? Hopefully not, so what can we do to improve? Every idea, suggestion or criticism is highly appreciated.

Tease Formatting

Post by slavechylde »

Perhaps I've missed something right in front of my eyes, but I don't see a way to format tease text. I have been unable to add tags, either. If I have looked past what is right in front of my eyes, please point it out for me.

If not, it would be nice to be able to add formatting like italics or bold or underline...just simple stuff. The ability to indent entire blocks of text would be nice, too.

The idea is nice and good. But we have soooo much to do at the moment. I don't think that this will be possible in the next months.

Also the feature to add links would be nice, but at the moment...

Thanks for the suggestion! :-)

When the tease editor was created, we didn't see the need for CrAZy TExT.

If you can bring forth some good examples where you need this functionality, then I'm happy to be convinced. But I can't think of any.

Links are even more problematic. Firstly, they attract spammers. Secondly, they interrupt the linearity of the tease. Thirdly, you should avoid any external references in your teases anyway, you don't put links in your romance novels either. It just kills the atmosphere. If you really, really need a link, like this one tease that needed a random number generator, you can post it as text.

I mean links just for example to link to a virtual cube or stopwatch. Nothing what should have a priority.

Links could be limited to within the tease being edited, by having
a way to just enter the number of the page to jump to.
This would help discourage spammers.

Having the ability to put in links to within the tease itself would make for
nicer scripting of options, as in "a painful experience".

Well, that's a whole different story! This is something we are already working on, called the scriptable editor. It will allow non-linear teases.

Links are not my issue.

As I stated previously, I want to be able to use basic formatting like bold, italics, and underline.

I have no interest in crazy text.

If the basic formatting is there, please tell me where because I have obviously missed it in the editor.

Where could I have used it? In TA:The Girl (3), I wanted to use italics to offset Training Mistress Dena's words from Masha's. The only way I could figure out how to do it was to put dashed lines on either side of her conversation. It's ugly that way. Take a look at the tease, and you'll see what I mean.

Hmm, you are probably right slavechylde.

Abuse is never a good argument against developing a feature. Just imagine the creators of E-Mail would have worried about Spam and didn't develop the technology out of fear of abuse. (<- Something is wrong about that sentence, isn't it? If someone with better grammar than mine is reading this, please can you tell me where the mistake is?)

Ok, I'll put it on the list. But it'll take a while until I come around to it.
