Whips Banned At Fifty Shades Of Gray Premiere

Post by masterstroke »

If you're planning to attend Fifty Shades of Grey in costume, you'll have to leave the whips, handcuffs and other devices at home. At least one movie theater chain is banning the devices. :whip:

“We do not permit weapons, real or fake, or items that would make other guests feel uncomfortable or detract from the movie-going experience,”
Does this mean they aren't going to show the movie? because I'm pretty sure a soft core version of a terrible book is going to "detract from the movie going experience"

Well, they don't have to worry for Me.
This book (and the subsequent movie) is a terrible damage for our beloved lifestyle and I'm not support it in any way...

Know this, dears, if you see people in BDSM outfit waiting outside the cinemas, you can be sure they aren't real Doms or Dommes... Only players and fakers.

A terrible damage indeed...

To be honest, I am not really acquainted with the scenario of this book/movie. I know that it is about BDSM, that's all.

When I am on facebook, looking through some profiles, I go to the "Books". What I see? 50 Shades of Gray, mostly alone, without any other book. As Oueen_Lucia noticed, it is a damage. I am not a huge fan of masochism, but this kind of damage is much more painful than physical - when I am looking through these profiles I experience a brain damage.

I don't really know why this book is such a sensation, though there is one positive aspect of it. It makes people more acquainted with the topic of BDSM, which - for instance in my country - is quite useful. People here do not know what is this all about, they perceive such things as something strange, in a negative way. So, the only thing I see useful here, is making people interested in, at least, theory.

I have also a bit of offtopic question - what is the situation of BDSM in a law in the US or GB?

I have actually read the beginning of the book. I can understand neither of the two sides. I don´t know why one would actually love such a boring, not very well written book and I can´t see why it would be such a damage to bdsm.

I think it's people having fun. I'm not sure what constitutes a "real" dominant or submissive other than the desire to be that. Does real mean 24/7? is anyone truly 24/7? Not arguing just open for discussion. I do hear all the bdsm controversy over the movie. It's a movie and fantasy. People are going to read it however they chose regardless if they do the research or not.

Remember the Rocky Horror crazy where everyone dressed up even if they weren't a transvestite? It was all in good fun. This doesn't mean people should not take safe, sane and consensual serious or do a bit of research before dabbling. Sometimes even bad media raises consciousness into a whole new light. It certainly has people talking and thats a good thing.

+1

I do totally agree with you here. It's a good think to get people interested and talking. Not Image damaging at all imho.

My main problem is how badly they portray BDSM, in the book Grey is an abusive stalker, who plays fast and loose with the idea of consent.

This isn't about what's true bdsm or not, everyone has their own kinks and such, but this guy is creepy. And as one of the few mainstream interpretations of the lifestyle the books perpetuate the idea that BDSM is weird and dangerous. I don't like that.

It is getting more people than ever interested in kink though, so that's to be welcomed.

Understand I am not trying to argue.

As many of you know my work is femdom phone sex. I've been working in the bdsm sex industry most of my adult life. Non-consensual fantasy is huge. You can read stories, watch fantasy videos, etc that are far worse. Personally I like the blend of sexual fantasy & a good adventurous even dangerous plot. I do think that its up to humans to investigate and know the difference.

I do understand how bdsm'ers might take offense but the reality is we are all adults. Some will form an intelligent opinion and others have another agenda. Having grown up around bdsm most of my life I think its great to be able to have open conversation about it rather than stuffing it deep into the closet. Some of my friends who knew I was into the lifestyle have been asking me questions lately as result of watching the movie. They never asked me these things before.

So much for our plans to attend with all the subs in strait jackets.

Maybe blindfolds will improve the movie?
