What if Milovana shuts down?

I don’t enjoy thinking about this but what if you’re on another forum a couple months from now and see the following:
What happenend to Milovana? Is it gone for good?

Or a couple years from now:
Remember that site called Milovana? Yeah.. It was pretty cool. It just shut down one day and that was it.

Does anyone have a plan?

I know people have talked about the demise of the site in the past but lately it seems more probable. The management of the site has suffered a bit with some noticeable details which makes me feel a little less confident that the site has what it takes to stay online in the long run. (like so many other sites)

I guess there is hope since the site is still online through this long and strange spell of admin inactivity. They are obviously keeping the site up which I assume is being done with paid services requiring at least minimal action on their part.

More hope is that we have TeaseMe and GuideMe available but how could Milovanians get together if the worse case scenario actually occurs and Milovana.com shuts down?

Just wondering because I have a bunch of unfinished stuff that I will eventually want to share as I am sure others do as well. Sharing it with a couple people thru email contact doesn't make me excited to keep working on this stuff.

I have lots of time where I am not partaking in Milovana “activities” but I have always taken it for granted that it will be there. It is always there when I need or want it. There is always something fun to do. Always some cool people to talk with or get to know. Always a game to get into that can take your mind off of things if needed. It is a great place for all manner of erotic activities and creations. The perfect outlet to drain your erotic energy if and when you want or need.

It is an awful thought and it is obviously coming from a selfish point of view since I want to use it to unload my teases someday. Of course I want the site to be there if I need to play too. If it does shut down I hope a couple people could at least come up with an alternate organized space to share in a more massive way than a couple of us emailing. This would certainly be horrible but at least we would still be able to share, help and keep in touch and not lose the Milovana Way entirely.

Any thoughts or ideas?

Well, to be honest I´m not very familiar with the aspects of organizing this site but I´m sure that there are people willing to support the milovana team that could contribute by different means. Is there a possibility to do something to help this site staying alive?

I asked myself what would I do if it was suddenly gone? I did a search for Miloavana on Fetlife and sure enough there is a Milovana group founded there from when the site went down some time ago. Maybe that group is where people would choose to hang their hats.

Of course it would never be the same. This site is more than a community, it is also a place to release one's artistic creativity.

If it is just a case of not wanting to do it anymore, hopefully the operators of the site will hand off the reigns.

Bottom line is you just never know. Collarme was an amazing resource too with one of the most active forums I've ever participated in, and one day "Poof" gone. Even if they get it back up and running it will never be the same.

I did just join the fetlife group,hopefully I will never need to take advantage of if because this site is down.

There are definitely a handful of people with the webteases saved and zipped, re-downloaded every month or so. Hopefully they'd be able to throw out a torrent or something so everyone could get them back.

It's not ideal, but Reddit does have a Milovana sub. If this site ever disappears, that's definitely where I'll go to find out where everything moved (I feel confident that someone will set up a similar website within a couple months, I just won't have a way to find it without an organized community) 4/8chan posts on the right boards will also probably point to where everyone has moved. The webteases are permanently out there and I don't think too many will disappear, it will just be an issue of finding them.

It does seem like the site has no owner or leader any more, and this is a great shame because it feeds into a vicious cycle. People don't trust the site as much, so they invest less into the teases, and then the teases get a bit worse, so even fewer people come to the site, and it seems Milovana is all to close to a downward spiral...

I confess that I'm probably one of the myriad of people in some small way responsible for this decline... Those of us who have accounts, but never use them. Those of us, like me, who trust that we can go online and type in "milovana.com" and wind up in this wonderful place.

I agree, though, that it does seem like we're nearing the potential of a downward spiral. Take, for example, the April 2014 TOTM. While it most certainly was a good tease, we're closer to April 2015 now than we are to April 2014, and people who come here for the first time know that. But I think that they can only see that the showpiece tease is 11 months (that long? Wow... Time flies) old and assume that this is not the vibrant comunity we longterm users know it to be.

I don't know what to suggest to fix this. I know some HTML. Enough that I could probably take the TOTM off of the page. Would that fix the problem? No. Would it fix a symptom? Just maybe. And maybe that would be enough to start us towards a larger cure.

Thanks, Sexytimes 5, for raising this question! I've often thought the same. What can I say? I'm a pessimist.

There really is no site even close to Milovana for me. If something serious happened, it would be a huge loss to myself and many others.

To me, the most glaring issue is the TOTM banner and contest. I appreciate Dragoul picking up the reigns and running the contest again, even if we are running late on the January one. Based on posts from Wyatt and Dragoul, there is a particular way to update the banner which also causes the tease to be tagged as a TOTM (or vise versa). The knowledge of how to do that must have left when Wyatt disappeared. (I would assume Seraph0x knows of course, too, and should be able to teach Dragoul.)

I think if the contest and banner could be made current again (and kept current), that would be a good indication that the site is active and viable, which would do better job at attracting new writers and new, quality teases.

Just my opinion.

Also, are you sure this site is going down? There's still quite a few teases made every week and my last tease which I made recently got a lot of visits.

I've never created a tease but tried to support the community via meaningful discussions and such here in the forums over the years. I don't know if the site is in danger of shutting down or anything, but I want to offer my 2 cents as well.

If Milo ever went into a death spiral I would be one of the first to jump in to develop alternative hosting options. It wouldn't be the first time I bankrolled hosting of a "successor" site to something popular on the Internet, although this would be my first time doing so in this particular genre, though....and thankfully is a much smaller audience.

I am not saying it is for sure going to go offline. The little details are like signs to me and make me think it might not be cost effective to operate the site. Without a large enough gain financially for the owner they might not be in a position to invest in people dedicated to running it if the usual admin has lost the time or energy needed or something.

They might just be going through some heavy things in real life too. Who knows but based on how good they were in running the site in the past I have doubts now.

I just hope they're committed to getting it back up to the normal high standards displayed in the past and I don't want to be left holding a bunch of new teases with no place to share them if it disappears. Having a few people willing to create an easily found or searched out alternate spot is probably a good idea just in case.

But I agree, it is really important for the teases and videos to not disappear.

I think the community is still very vivid, but not being able to do the TOTM tagging and the broken(?) account creation shows how dependent the site is on a few people. This could of course turn out to be a problem some day, and kinda is right now. So I have to admit, that I had exactly the same thoughts like you Sexytimes 5, before you started this tread.

The TOTM polls are still running though So feel free to vote! And I am sure that eventually I will also be able to properly tag them in the system.

I am not certain, but one of the reasons why there aren't that many new teases really could be because they take SO MUCH work.

Just so much damn time.

I had 7 teases if I remember right, which took forever to make, and write, gather and find the photos, you have to find the "right" photos, put 'em in order in the flash tease maker.

Then in a moment of non thinking-ness one day I closed my account.That was in my "I am giving up porn" days.
And when I reopened my account under a new name they were and are all gone.And they can't be brought back.
