There's a bug in some versions of Opera that makes messages appear twice.

There's a bug through which the webclient won't work if you try a username with special characters.

OS: Windows Vista
Browser: InternetExplorer 7

When I am typing a text, the typing get's interupted as soon as someone enters or leaves the chatroom. The result is that I have to use my mouse to click the cursor back in the textbox before I can continue typing.

Indeed - very unfortunate if you're in the middle of deleting something from the text box using backspace, as when the text box loses focus and you press backspace, it causes the browser to go back in its history, disconnecting you from the chat...

Well, if you're using the web chat, then there is a list of 'channels' down the left hand side of the window. Just double-click on one (e.g. #milovana) and you'll move into that channel.

Typing

/join <channelname>

is how you'd do it if you were using a text-only IRC client, so for example you might type:

/join #milovana

to join the #milovana channel.

All of a sudden I keep timing out when I try to connect to it from mIRC.

EDIT: I think it's a problem with my ISP. I'm connecting through a proxy now and I'm fine.

Had that problem too.

Windows Vista 64 bit
Internet Explorer 7

Also, not so much a bug but a comment, everybodies name is the same color, makes it very difficult to determine who is speaking, especially when lots of traffic going on. Not to mention, there is no ping when message sent, would be helpful for those slow times or involved in "giggles* something, to know a message was sent.

All in all was positive experience last night! ;-)

Chat is hanging here when I open it:

Image

Using Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.0.3) Gecko/2008092417 Firefox/3.0.3.

It's not the nick being registered that's the issue either.

Alright, so the joining and leaving of other people should no longer interrupt your typing.

The usernames should no longer overlap the messages.

Which means the two most annoying bugs are fixed.

Also: Not being able to close private chats - Fixed - they now have a little X at the top right.

The chat should also now load a little quicker. More bugfixes coming soon. If you had problems getting it to work at all, it's definitely worth it to try again from time to time.

Thanks everybody for the fantastic reports and your support. It's greatly appreciated!

Edit: Opera posting every message twice... fixed! :happy2:

I have tried clicking on the Milovana box
typing /join # milovana
Even cut an pasted the (join milovana)
Then when I type text
I still get the message
*join milovana channel.

Sigh. ( or what the hell am I doing wrong?)

I have Internet 7
XP windows Service pack 3
if that helps any.

I have IE7 and I have the same problem. I had to download mIRC and run it through there. I have free AVG firwall installed that seems to block almost everything (how the fuck do i turn this thing off?!?) so it might be that too

Nothing!!

Everybody: Please be aware that the chat is still a very early version. Currently it should work in Internet Explorer 6 and 7, Firefox 2 and 3 and Opera 9.x. (We know there are problems in Safari.)

Now, we know that a lot of users are reporting problems, usually under IE7. I can't currently reproduce all of those problems, so you just gotta hang in there for a bit.

Also, the chat might be somewhat sensitive to firewalls and slow or unreliable connections. So make sure you can exclude those as possibilities.

Please note that if the webclient isn't (yet) working for you, you can always get an IRC client (such as mIRC) and connect with that.

We'll keep working!

Cheers,

Seraph0x :-)

I've had no problems using mIRC to connect. After all, it's always good to have some good news.

Only small nuceinse is having to change my nick to DavidF for this specific server. :P

@Indigo: I added some new debugging features. Can you try again please? It probably won't work yet, but it might give me some more information in the logs.
