Types of CH Videos

I've been thinking about this lately. Most CH videos are of what I would call a general "stroking genre." The originals certainly all are. The Stroker Aces added edging to the mix, but it's generally still part of the stroking genre. Very few CH videos incorporate any sort of story. Blue Pill is an example of a stroking genre style CH that incoporates some story elements. I would these types of CH's like a straightforward flashtease that involves stroking, but turned into video form. There are only three CH videos off the top of my head that completely break the mold of the "stroking genre." They are:


Vampire Journey
Champion of Cocknia
Cock Hero Conquest Part 1


There are a few other off-genres like the Mr. Edger series, but most CH's generally share the stroking genre format. What I would like to see if anyone is out there making CH's still, is more story-based CH's as well as adventure CH's. Boss Fight is another one I can think of that incorporates a sort of story aspect. I would offer to make a CH like this, but do not have any experience with video editing or much of a porn collection.

I know what you mean. I have noticed, as you have, that most of the CH videos are simply instructions about the rate and rhythm by which to stroke. I'm not complaining, because frankly it's a LOT of time in front of a video editing program to put together any video of that sort, so I thank all the creators for their efforts, no matter how clumsy their first attempts might have been. It's all appreciated! But, I think it would exciting and simply, um, INTERESTING, to consider other types of videos that are spin-offs from the CH genre.

There are some CH videos that manipulate the manner of stroking a bit more than others. The Corruption series attempts to swap between one hand and the other, and attempts to surprise the viewer with new rhythms and scenes in a kind of "whoops got ya!" way. This is noteworthy because many of the CH videos don't really manipulate the stroking-instruction any more than, to change and vary the frequency of stroke. More stroke, or less stroke, at a different rhythm: that's the only variable, in most CH videos.

And then there are the stories. The "adventure story" genre went over quite well -- Champion of Cocknia, Vampire Journey, and Blue Magic Challenge (did you call it "Blue Pill" in the first post? har ...) all have a sort-of plot underneath the stroking instructions. People really seemed impressed with Champion of Cocknia when it first came out, if I remember the commentary on these forums correctly. Although the story wasn't extremely complicated at all, it seems somehow to link all the scenes together much more properly than a usual CH. It worked for me despite the genre. Personally, I don't really get very excited by fantasy-romance-medieval genre type movies or books (for example, I'm not really a Tolkien fan in a big way) but that type of story behind Cocknia was, nevertheless, very much appreciated. Somehow it got me into the "zone" better. Don't know why that would be the case, but I bet most viewers and players of CH videos here would concur.

Another genre that is sort of making its presence known, is what I might call, "get to know these girls." The Stroker Ace series, for instance, comes back around at the end to three or five "chosen" women who were introduced earlier. I could see this genre making greater strides, if someone wanted to try. For instance, pick only five women, total. Then, do early tease-scenes with those five women in a specific order; then, blowjob scenes, same five women, same order; then hardcore; then finish. I could also imagine more of a "competition" among the women -- which girl makes YOU cum, as opposed to, which girl is really not as stimulating to YOU or to ANOTHER player? Etc.. These are ideas, just thoughts that come to mind every now and again, kind of like George Carlin's brain droppings, ya know ...

Again, no complaints, all the CH videos are great, as far as I'm concerned. The mere EXISTENCE at all of a CH, as created by someone, means he has done more to please and entertain the community, than if he had NOT created one, so every little effort is appreciated. But to you guys who really understand the video-editing software, and have mastered it, don't you think it might be time to stretch the limits of the genre, try out some new ideas, see what can be done, other than simply, "now stroke like THIS; now like THIS; now ...".

Anyway, just some thoughts, worth sharing with the people here. I guess the natural extension of my argument would be, "Hey, Book Guy, if you got so many danged great ideas, why don't YOU try to create a CH video?" Well, I guess, uh, touche, you win, that's a fair challenge. I'll do it right after I post my ice-bucket ALS video ... heh ...

I categorize CH rounds by playstyle:

1. Fast beats and trying as hard as you can to refrain from cumming. Examples: Cock Hero Fail, Mindwarp, and most of CHs. This style makes for a fun challenge, but can get boring to do for long stretches (when I'm only focusing on trying not to cum, I never get to enjoy the fapping!).

2. Slow beats and trying as hard as you can to cum/edge/stay right below the edge (by some combination of gradual buildup, concentration and squeezing the PC muscle). Examples: Flux Dance 1 & 2, Heavenly Bodies, and boss reward rounds. Personally I find the challenge of this style more enjoyable.

3. Edge holding. Examples: Stroker Ace 3 and Stroker Edge Babes. This style lets you enjoy the pre-orgasmic endorphin rush without cumming yet, and in my opinion builds your eventual orgasm better than the previous two styles. But it's extremely hard to make a video which combines both stroking and edging. The beats have to be not too slow, not too fast, and paced exactly right such that you reach the edge at the precise moment the video tells you to. Stroker Ace 3 is the only video that ever succeeded with combining stroking and edging in my opinion.

the Cock Hero Island trilogy (to date, anyway, i suppose series will likely be more accurate), unless i misunderstand the meaning of the OP, would seem to qualify, each video in its own right being a story as well as a thread among them; it takes a retro video game as its framing device; the thread of the most recent of the series can be found linked via the thread at viewtopic.php?f=25&t=16830, you can easily find the earlier ones if interested i'm sure

i realize that this isn't the point above but i hope it's an okay tangent, i also think it's an interesting discussion re the sub-types of the general stroking-for-its-own-sake Cock Hero format spoken of above, the types in addition to the originating (? - well, there's probably a history i don't know well enough) Cock Hero beat/stroke-meter (if the stroke-meter was even in the original Cock Hero? can't recall) directed masturbation type (actually i think the discussions on the definition of the Cock Hero format are also interesting, as in other threads re necessity of meter, etc.)

in particular i like the stop/go/edge sort, and would like to see more of these (i know, "go ahead and do it then"; hey, i'm just a hopeless masturbator!)

the stroke-instructing but non-visual and porn-augmenting sort such as Ultimate Acceleration Challenge are also a neat vein; it's a great idea re something specifically intended to augment one's already-favorite porn

I have found rounds with a "theme" work well as it gives the round some sort of story to hang together.
The adventure style vids give something fun to do other than just the beats.
Not a fan of the ones that have very fast beats just to be "hard" as it makes for a dissappointing session if you fail to something you don't find arousing due to excessive beats.
I like the ones that have tough bits and recovery buts. Makes the sense of challenge more fun.
I would love to see someone run with the choose your own adventure style of conquest and make something amazing with lots of replayability.
As long as it has a clear audible beat its generally worth a look.
