Samuzzo,

Sure. But Imperialists and Socialists are not mutually exclusive. The men I listed prove it.

Left - moral freedom, economic control
Right - moral control, economic freedom

libertarian - moral freedom, economic freedom
It's definitely two dimensions now the Social and the Economic. See http://www.politicalcompass.org/ and Take the Test for more.

Favouriteworstnightmare, it is times like this when this site need a like button! I'm a pretty big Farage fan, although I disagree with him on economics, he is Britain's best hope of regaining their freedom. I still wish he would work with Marine Le Pen, though.

Political compass is actually one of the worst tests out there. It defines left-right as purely economic, and libertarian authoritarian as purely social. If you look at the graphs they do of parties during elections, you can see how biased they are. Die Link in Germany scores as the most libertarian on their German chart, despite having supported censorship and anti-blasphemy laws during the Muhammad cartoon controversy. Furthermore, in the same chart AfD is shown as being the most authoritarian party, and while I don't deny that that party does have socially conservative authoritarian elements, they also seem to be much more supportive of free speech than the "libertarian" leftist parties.

They also list UKIP as being highly authoritarian, despite being the only major libertarian party in Britain.

And finally, this is me. If this test were accurate, then my right-wing views should be represented. I'm huge on the Front National and Marine Le Pen (although her father is somewhat insane), a party constantly described as far-right, so I should be on the right. But no, the Political Compass puts me here, because I favor socialist economics and gay marriage. I'm still right-populist, anti-feminist (also anti-MRA BTW) and anti-multicultural as fuck, so what am I doing on the far-left?

I find it odd that UKIP are described as authoritarian, they are the only major party in the UK that hasn't failed miserably in terms of civil liberties. UKIP are becoming less libertarian, as they no longer believe in a completely free and unregulated market.

In the U.S. I'm probably considered far-left because I think huge income inequality is bad for the entire nation in the long term. The last time it was this unequal was 1929 and we all know how well that went. Of course I don't believe in pure socialism though. That can be just as bad (or worse) as pure capitalism. Every successful nation is a mixture of the two, I just think our mix is leaning too heavily towards favoring the rich (not surprising since they basically write the laws) and hurting the poor.

I also think we should have single-payer healthcare. Health insurance companies are just middle men taking a cut and jacking up prices for everyone. It seems completely immoral to me to take advantage of sick people like that. The insurance companies even killed the public option, because they were so afraid of COMPETITION from the government.

Most of the wars we've been involved in since Vietnam have been a mistake too, and our military size and budget is completely out of control. The Soviet Union did the same thing and bankrupted themselves.

People should also be able to do whatever they want as long as they aren't harming others, whether it's drugs, sexual orientation/practices, prostitution, etc. We lock so many people up in prison just for smoking some weed, and study after study has shown prison is completely ineffective at curbing drug use anyway. Our last 3 presidents (at least) would have been guilty of a felony drug possession had they ever been caught, likely ruining any chance they ever had at becoming president.

Excuse me for my horrible liberal rant :-P

I also took that politcalcompass test but some of the questions seemed pointless. I don't see what my opinions on abstract art have to do with my political leanings.

The problem with the political compass is that it is only 2-dimensional and does not have a good definition of left and right, or libertarian or authoritarian. Questions about abstract art, do make sense though, as all totalitarian regimes have persecuted abstract art.

That is absolutely brilliant.

While trying very hard to respect other people's right to make their own choices and have whatever preferences they please, I will gladly admit I have a very hard time viewing believers and socialists and particularly intelligent at all.
Yes, I most certainly CAN do it again!
