Minimum postcount to send a PM?

Do you think Milovana.com is perfect in every way? Hopefully not, so what can we do to improve? Every idea, suggestion or criticism is highly appreciated.

Minimum postcount to send a PM?

Post by texturedshroom »

I've noticed some of the ladies complaining about people with no posts signing up just to PM them... maybe this would be a good idea?

I understand your point Shroom and somewhat agree. Playing Devil's Advocate here...I know that some people are a little more shy than others and perhaps they finally registered due to something they read in a forum and wanted to respond, but just weren't brave enough to post publically. Maybe they were waiting to see how their response via PM to that specific someone was greeted before they explored and opened up to the site further. I for one, began with PM's first then moved up to forum posts and topics which created this monster you now see before you thanks to this wonderful community. :yikes: I didn't just sign on to write a PM, in fact my journey was quite different and to be clear my first attempts to reach out through PM were not to any of the ladies. Quite frankly, I began posting teases long before I ever made my voice heard here.

However, I really do see your side of the coin. You are talking about fools who sign on, solicit one of the ladies here and never hear of again. THAT, is indeed a problem, but can it be solved without doing harm to a situation such as mine? That answer I do not have, but want to try to fairly represent both sides.

Happy Teasing,

Maybe the ladies should have an option of allowing PMs from specific people. I know this is possible on other forums I belong to?

I am also sad about all the guys who bother the Ladies here, but I never understood why the Ladies just ignore the PM's. To add this feature BoredOMK17 would make sense but it's not so important in my eyes. texturedshroom, if you ask me your suggestion is well meant, but I see no chance to realize that.

That's actually possible. You can define rules in your control panel and you could do two rules like this:

1. If Sender is friend Place into folder: Inbox
2. If Sender is in usergroup Registered users | Delete message.

That would delete PMs from anybody except your friends.

As for the "No PMs from new users" feature request: Well, it's noted and I agree it's a solid idea. However, the male to female ratio will still be 100:1, so it probably won't solve the problem completely. ;-)

I am kinda with rb on this one. Trying to fight reality with technical solutions usually does more harm than good. Take DRM - created to fight piracy and is now one of the prime reasons why people pirate software. In a similar way, a rule like this would decrease the spam the gals are getting, but it would increase spam in the forums (people trying to rack up the required post count quickly). :-P

As always: If you'd personally like to see this feature, write a quick post here. Your voice counts - we will work on whatever people need most urgently in relation to the time it would take to implement. :-)
