Seeking criticism, please

Post by slickpimpin69 »

I created this last year; meant to come back to it, but some heavy-duty life stuff got in the way. The Pornhub link is all I have left of it, but it'd be easy enough to do it all again. I've been a bit of a DIY video/audio guy since around 2000, so making these CH vids is pretty easy.

If the fine members of this community wouldn't mind, I'd really appreciate any honest and useful criticism of this little clip: http://www.pornhub.com/view_video.php?viewkey=960465698

Many thanks. I'm working on a new CH vid now, and will post when it's ready.

not a bad start round
I know doing these is difficult..
I still don't know how to...
I still have on my wish list a Clitty hero for ladies.. if you ever feel so inclined

the one negative thing is the changes in the scenes are a bit abrupt

the good part is the beat does seem to match the action on the videos fairly well!
hope to see this one completed!

I'm a big believer in matching the onscreen action to the beat; to me, that's why the "Fail" episode remains one of the best, if not the best.

Popular sex psychology teaches that women are less visually-stimulated than men are, at least when it comes to arousal. They're more drawn to written descriptions, so they can imagine their own version of the events described. That's what most pop psych lit says, anyway. What would a woman want to watch for something of this nature?

It looks like you're on the right track, Honestly I think you'll really benefit from getting some music added in here. It's really difficult to gauge your editing without the music. It looks like you've got the beat and beat meter down (aside from a little sync problem with the beat hitting before it hits your indicator)

I'd recommend adding your beat track to a song and cutting to that. I think it'll help you greatly in figuring out the rhythm and pacing you want for your edit.

It's not that I don't agree; I wondered if music wouldn't have made it a bit more fun to watch. Music just adds an element that brings with it headaches (usage/permissions, at the very least), and (for me, anyway) possible distraction. Also, the videos that rely on the beat of the songs underneath always seemed to lack something for me. When it's time to "go", they aren't going fast enough. That's just a minor complaint, mind you; I have plans to make nearly any song match any beat I want to use.

Incidentally, if one were to *download the video as it currently sits, then watch it via a media player, they'd notice the beats and the meter matching perfectly. I tested it many times. When viewing streaming video, many factors can impede "perfect" sync. Has there been a middle ground found? I used After Effects to create this video, FWIW.

*Tested this again, just to make sure I wasn't full of crap

Well its up to you. I'd say if you're going to choose a song then, choose one where you can go fast enough with it and make it how you'd want it.

I think it's kind of expected at this point that music is used. I haven't seen an episode that doesn't utilize it. That being said it could be interesting. But I'd say if you're not going to use music then the edit itself will have to be very good. Typically for me the music carries me from scene to scene and adds to the intensity of the scene is most cases. So without it the scenes and the edit will have to be good on their own. Which is more pressure on you I'd think.

I have noticed pornhub likes to fuck with the sound. you may want to steer clear of it, especially if you've spent all that time synching it up only to have pornhub mess with it lol

Oh, I'll be using music, yeah. I'm just gunna see if I can arrange a bit of something or other to make any beat I want match the music playing.

I figured it was Pornhub's fault; where do the other creators upload their vids?

Thanks for all the help and input.

oh okay, gotcha. Well I just upload to Milovana and Emp, then there are people on here that will put it up for streaming at http://cockhero.info/ and http://ampcustomizer.appspot.com/#top_menu . I haven't used any of the sites beyond that. Although I think I've seen my stuff uploaded to pornhub by other people. The only downside with the sites i mentioned is there's no way to check the stats :-/

I agree the onscreen stuff has to match the beat, but also the music. And that's I guess one of the hard parts in making these, to find songs that, as you say, get going when the action starts. I have never made a CH but I would assume it would be easier to find a song and develop the round around it. As to not find the music too distracting, which it can be, I preffer the ones with electronic music and pref no vocals. The dumber the song the better potential it has IMO, stuff like trap, dubstep or similar works great (Im allowed to say dumb because I actually enjoy this music :)). Actually listening to some music makes me think it would be great in CH, and even some thoughts of making a one but I just hate editing plus I am a lazy bastard.

Anyway I liked the round, but without music it is kinda dull I have to say. Props to you for taking time to do it!

while on this tangent, i saw a study done recently(-ish) which measured bodily reaction to visual stimulation and the results were women were as physically turned on as men. however, the subjects were all college age (not an uncommon problem with test subjects even in some widely recognized studies), which to me greatly devalued the research; but i do recall some other neurological or psychological work suggesting that the difference in stated/admitted appreciation of visual stimulation may be culturally informed behavior rather than genetically or physically informed.

i just had a chance to watch the piece, i think it's a good warmup round

i like the idea of trying it w/o music but i would like to hear the sounds of the videos, somewhat subdued compared to the beat; i think the sounds of sex add a lot

also, i downloaded it with no issues in sync between the beat and the visual cue; i did not try to watch it online

That makes sense, especially in regard to American women. There's an implied puritan streak that still runs deep in our culture that demands our women to at least pretend to be (or want to be) chaste and demure.

Any porn I watch is generally with no sound at all (turned down, for example); the "acting" and the other sex-related sounds are distracting to me. On top of that, subconsciously I know it's being faked, which adds to the distraction. Weird, I know. Next CH I make, the original vid sounds will be there, but I'm going to make sure it's very subdued.

Thank you for downloading it to try it out. I try to be careful with the small details, so the beats and visual cue matching were definitely on that agenda.

no, i don't think it's weird what you think re sound, i can see that and i think many do

i just am conditioned differently, partly from the association of porn in the background with sex of any kind, and partly because i think these days a lot of porn has acceptably acted (though of course exaggerated, though i noticed in public or exhibitionistic sex that certain women are very vocal when charged, even if that's porn-influenced; sort of like the whole movement of younger women towards trimming if not outright shaving around the pussy, that used to be far rarer in life than in porn) moaning/sex noises

though the convenience of loud music is it drowns out the bad acting ones

i also do turn down some porn

I like your style. There was plenty in there for an ass man to like.

Regarding the components of a Cock Hero video, you've nailed two of the variables well: making sure the stroke meter matches the audible beats, and making sure the audible beats seem appropriate for the action on-screen.

The third variable, as has been mentioned, is the music. The audio beats you create as stroke indicators must be appropriate and in sync (or at least be "harmonious") with the music. I think that requires some considerable talent. I question whether you (or anyone) can make something like you've done so far match some music you haven't decided on yet. I agree with an earlier comment that it seems logical that you'd have to *start* with a good song and make the other elements match it, rather than the other way around. That being said, I've never tried to make one of these myself, so I could be wrong.

Regarding streaming and downloading sites, I value high-definition Cock Hero. What that usually means, is that I'd prefer downloading a video in at least 720p. (I watch/play Cock Hero with a 1080p monitor and headphones.) The best way to make your high-quality video available to us is to either upload to mega.co.nz or to make a torrent.

Thanks!
