Plastic can actually work with any type of lube (depends on the plastic of course, but plastic is neutral). It's Silicone that has the problem.

Regarding cloths pins. If you are just starting out they can be quite intense. Going on is difficult, but did you know taking them off can be just as bad as the blood starts to rush back in. One idea with them is to take them apart and bend the spring a little to make the spring less strong. I have done this on a couple of cloths pins and then label them "Lite". That way if I want the feeling but not the pain, I have a choice.

Here is a trick I learned not long ago about the simple way of putting on a cock/ball ring. I have a ring like this:

OTOH if you find your clothespins too loose, you can put one on another.
