Do you think Milovana.com is perfect in every way? Hopefully not, so what can we do to improve? Every idea, suggestion or criticism is highly appreciated.

I've been using online forums since before most people knew what an internet was (ever heard of a Hayes modem?), and that's probably why it grates on me but the term SPAM does not incorporate to all unwanted posts and such. Spam refers to computer generated ads and messages, It is analogues to junk mail. So regardless of the quality of thread it's not spam. Spamming is the act of repeatedly posting or sending messages.
Anyway I'll repeat my suggestion. Anytime you want a forum to be moderated it helps to post (generally in a stickyed thread on that forum) guidelines to posting. Otherwise moderation is often seen as inconsistant and power driven regardless of how it is actually applied.
The meaning of spam has changed, and on pretty much any forum these days, it applies to the kind of thread that got locked, among other things.
everyone please stop being argumentative for the sake of being argumentative.
If I paid a subscription to this site then my post started getting censored or locked I would be annoyed. As its free, I say Milovana team can do whatever they like. Things like locking that thread (which was total spam) are for the better of this site. i would hate to see the forums full of desperate guys joining up, posting stuff like that, not getting a response then leaving...it would clutter this place up
Also, why does everyone keep saying "its a femdom site"....
I thought it was a t&d site open to anyone? maybe there are some sub girls/dom guys out there who would join up if we didnt keep going on about how much of a Femdom orientated place this is... Not that Im complaining about the femdom content... you know I love it
The reason why some people didn't notice it that these threads were deleted before, was that often I have seen them early and deleted them without a reply.
To prevent spam is no censorship it's a service we give you to enjoy the forums without distraction.
And yes I would like to have a place for users who are looking for a domme to tease. But that would mean to change the forum structure and we talked about in the team forum and decided to let it be like it is for now.
So we will also in the future delete posts from guys who open a single thread when they are desperate and looking for a mistress a mindfuck or whatever. A little hint: If this is your first post, you can post in the welcome thread and there you can mention that you would like to play some teasing games in chat. Or you can use your signature to state that you are looking for someone.
Why we allow female users to post their requests here? Because we know these posts are very popular and a big win for the community. The "looking for a mistress" posts are useless for every user here and the thread starter wouldn't get a response in more than 99% of all cases.
Timshel wrote:and yet his single post is relevant, though-out, and timely.
Just because someone rarely or never posts doesn't mean they don't care or that they mean any less.
No agruemnets there whatsoever, as said just an observation that someone who hadn't, posted before used that as a first post no ill thoughts meanings etc were intended hey ho
LOL!!! Okay, good points, everybody. I knew this was going to cause some controversy. As for my posting one time, ask around. I've posted before, indeed, I've been with this site for some time. Just because I have reverted back to this account after closing another, and posting a single time does not make my point any less valid. *Thanks, Timshel* And yes, I have indeed, compared this to a more free society. The internet is a wonderful place, where most can go to free themselves of the constraints of societal rules and stigmas, so long as you do it in a safe and respectful manner. I agree, spammers tend to cause a lot of discontent among close knit societies, such as this one. And for what it's worth, I'm glad Milovana hasn't catered to banner ads, as well. I still believe *pointed at Dark* that if a male posts on the site, looking for attention, it should be taken just as openly as if a female does so. Yes, there should be some guidelines, and yes, I agree that if everyone did so, that it would probably clog the forum, and diminish from the otherwise great content on here. But what's good for the goose, should be good for the gander, so to speak. As for Milo being a femdom community, yeah, it's worked out that way. The site is based upon teasing and denial. *However*, there are also several teases dedicated to women, so you can't say it's totally about women being in charge, either. Even one of my favorite authors, "Lindsey", has posted that she occasionally likes to be on the flip side of the coin. Even the site banner says "For the Explorer at heart". Says nothing about being subjugated to the Princess's, Mistresses, Femdoms, or anything else on the site, *UNLESS*, it's what the user is looking for, specifically. To that end, perhaps the term "Rules" should be changed to "guidelines". And I think perhaps the implied threat of having rights diminished for not playing along should be taken out. If it's an idle threat, it serves no purpose, and if it's for real, then perhaps Milo should indeed incorporate them as an "Acceptable Use Policy". I don't mean to be snide, condescending, or even start a fight, or argue, as it has been suggested. I just have a great deal of respect for this site, and wish to contribute my own views, in the hopes that a clear head will prevail, and see all sides of a situation before making any clear cut decisions.

It has nothing to do with a femdom site. Milovana was never a femdom site you can read that here everywhere. But since this is the most popular direction in teasing and denial it's very common here.
If we would have 95 % females here who are posting daily "i wanna be bitch, any master here to tease me?" then we would only allow male requests Besides that it really depends on the situation. I also deleted threads of female users here. Every case is individual and I can understand when some members don't agree with decisions a team member has made. But our stand and our view is pretty clear and we agreed about together. So the discussion is not reasonable at all.

I don't agree. We hold ourselves to a certain standard, so we can't just do whatever we like. I think the problem here really is the lack of consistent rules that all mods adhere to. I've just written a post letting our mods know some of the guidelines. Here's an excerpt:
seraph0x wrote:It's a very easy line to cross between moderation and censorship and we have to err on the side of letting a spammer get through rather than deleting something that might have sparked an interesting discussion. Uniqueness really is the key. Nobody needs the ten-thousandth attempt of somebody selling penis enlargement, but if there's a new kind of vibrator out - hey, I'd wanna take a look and decide for myself rather than having some mod decide for me.
I hope this shows that we do think and try to come up with new and smarter ways to distinguish the good from the bad. I'll make sure to write another post soon directed at the community on how you can make sure that your post won't get deleted.
Personally, I like the rules in the chatroom. For those who are lucky enough to be in the chatroom when a mistress is present, the rules establish a predetermined set of boundaries and make it so the Mistress doesen't have to explain herself every time someone new happens to pop in. And for those who don't want to "play" with the Mistress present at that time, they don't have to!!
For gosh sakes, this is all in fun anyway isn't it? I mean, no one is "forced" to come here and take part, if you don't like what you see, then.........leave.
Well, for what it's worth, I never intended this to get so personal. I was merely concerned for the members out there that are already afraid to post, and perhaps do so the first time, in a less than ethical fashion. I'd hate to see a potential author run off because one of his posts got locked or deleted, because his words came across wrong. Feelings online are exceptionally easy to hurt, as there is never any emotional depth behind them. (Take that one from me.) So, as a way of closing this conversation, let me just say first, Thanks to Seraph0x, for being the clear head, and defining a set of rules or guidelines for moderators (despite that they aren't exactly out in the open), and for seeing what I was trying to get across. I'm sure this topic has caused a permanent "black mark" on my relatively colorful history on this site, and for that, I apologize. I was just looking out for the little guy. Second, let me say,
I'm sorry.
I will refrain from posting in the future, as I seem to cause controversy any time I speak up on an issue. Please consider this an open apology to anyone I might have inadvertently upset, or annoyed.

While I'm quite sure it's clear among the mods and members of the community that have at least been actively reading the forums, I doubt it is clear at all to newer people or ones who have not read a majority of the threads here. Just like The chat guildelines that have recently been posted and stickyed. A post regarding posting guidelines would do much to eliminate the undercurrent that does pop up when things get moderated.
My intention is not to be a pain in the mods side here. It's just a common forum feature that is lacking, and I believe would help. I really do appreciate the mods and know how annoying those automated spam bots can be, and how pervaisive and aggresive they have become. If I knew of any software to help I'd suggest it.

You shouldnt apologise for stating you opinions. And (in my opinion) this was a very good thread. Its sparked off a lot of interesting discussion. Nice post Phoenix, you should post more not less!
I think it was kind of cool he posted as this was something I was wondering about myself not too long ago, I had the same thought as the original poster. It is kind of a funny story actually... one day I was a bit in the mood to play ....looking for something to do so I stopped by here and saw a post "anyone want to tease a ..blah blah.." so I posted for him to meet me in the chat room...
We met.. along with a few other gabbers and had a great time. I instructed them to take care of some things and then to go post in the original thread after which time I would send them an audio file for RELEASE.
In the meantime the thread got LOCKED.. haha DENIED!! Poor boys couldn't post and get the file.
I thought it was kind of funny at the time and wondered why it was locked, it did seem like a bit of a double standard to me considering women are allowed to post similar threads. I emailed Dark and he was nice enough to offer to unlock it for me but we found another option instead.
With that said, the point about it being a first post is a great one. It is not a good way to start of a relationship with the site and it encourages some seemingly lame threads. (By both women and men)
Say hello first, it just makes more sense to me ;)
Nikki
Ps, another option might be to have a designate thread for this purpose so that it more black and white and restricted to one spot.
Phoenix_Rising wrote:I don't see the difference between this user soliciting attention, as this one did, or a post by another user, for instance, Lindsey
Well, I can stop soliciting attention I suppose.
The difference, (without sounding like a presumptous and vain...well, bitch...) is the response that people have to the solicitations. One of my hobbies is music, i'm part of a number of musicians' forums. I wouldn't go on those forums and start a thread entitled "Will someone give me online guitar lessons in the chat room?". However, if Jimmy Page registered and started a thread entitled, "I have some free time, anyone up for free guitar lessons in the chat room?", it would be a little different.
I'm not saying that I, or any of the other females here, are analogous to hard rock guitar legends that, quite franky, had dead sexy hair in the 70's. But the issue isn't so cut and dry. I don't see the extent that it goes on, as it's been mentioned that some threads are flat out deleted before most people see them. But I don't think it goes on to such a degreee that it bothers me. Personally, i've responded to at least one or 2 of those types of threads and appeased (for lack of a better term) the poster. However, I can understand the 'what if everybody did' mentality of the people who have to actually deal with moderating the boards.
LOL. Kidding. No, I realize that the issue is not nearly so simplistic as I posted originally. But I did so for the sake of argument. The base argument is that when men do something, society in general is far less forgiving than if a woman were to commit to the same action. It tends to make me wonder if we as a society have really made any great strides in our ways of thinking. Human nature seems to always win out.
Oh, and sorry to have used you as an example. You were on my mind, and the first person I thought of, due to your prolification on the forum. Nothing negative was meant, or intended by my comment. Sorry, sincerely, if I offended.
