New Nyx! Longer FlashTeases possible!

Citizens of Milovana,

It has taken forever to do, but now we're proud to finally present the new version of Nyx! We've tested it with teases up to 300 pages, so the performance boost should allow authors to create much longer, more elaborate teases!

The update is mostly meant to lay the groundwork for future developments, but there are a few visible improvements:

• You can now filter the images by name, which makes it easier to manage larger numbers of images.
• You can now un-publish your tease if you published it by accident or want to take it back for another reason.
• Some parts of the interface have been simplified and are now hopefully easier to use.

Please note that Nyx is still beta, so you should regularly back up your scripts by copy&pasting them into a text editor.

Im still having problems saving changes to my teases, Im not sure if its my awful internet connection or a problem in nyx.

It will let me open, publish and all that but when i go to save it, nothing happens.
I tried opening my card game tease, the script was right but in the 'visual' section, text was missing, delays were wrong, pages were missing etc so Im not sure which to change...the script or the 'visual' part.

Also if I change script directly it doent seem to change the visual section, even if I publish it.

Its making my brain hurt!

I still love nyx tho, I just think computers dont like me

Oh also, just tried to unpublish my tease "the card game" but it is still up there. ???

I'll look into the problems you're having. You'll get a PM with some questions that should help me pin down the problem.

Edit: I should mention that some of the problems are to be expected though. For instance, switching between visual and script view is currently not supported and may or may not work as expected. Stick to one editor if possible.

Simply fantastic! ^^ I had felt that tabs would have worked a lot better than the bars that opened up when I've been editing my teases, and it's also great that the opened tab is preserved when you switch the pages you're editing. It was tedious to always click the new menu each time you switched a page. And then, the now (pretty much) limitless pages is by far the best part. Seriously, you rock.

And another update!

Opening a tease should now give you a nice loading bar with the ability to cancel. This turned out to be important since the larger teases can take a while to open.

(Btw. whenever I announce an update and you can't see the new features right away, try clearing your browser cache, you probably still have the old version cached.)

Seems to be working for me a lot better now. I was having problems seeing changes in the preview but I found simply clearing my history/temporary internet files sorted that out (thanks for the help on that seraphox).

Now I can start work on the 'year-long' webtease... 365 pages long with a 24 hours delay on each screen...

Hello SeraphOx and others,

Thanks for the new version. I too was experiencing the same problems as Cumhardy. I simply or perhaps annoyingly, closed out NYX editor, logged out, and then logged back in and went back to NYX and the changes were corrected. I suspect there is an eaiser solution but I am quite computer challenged as well.

I just submited my first Flash Tease yesterday, I am so hooked. I have several ideas I am working on right now and can't wait to get back at it. Thanks for the great effort to making this thing work.

BTW, seeing as how I am sort of ignorant when it comes to these post things, is there a way I could be informed of updates to the NYX or is the the best place / forum to find them? Sorry for the stupidity, but even though I can navigate the web well enough and have been doing so since almost the boom of the WWW, all that time I have never entered a chat room or participated in Forums or Blogs. Hard to believe I know, but I am trying to teach this ol' dog a few new tricks.

Major updates will be posted as Announcements. Right when you start Nyx, you'll get a welcome text on the right hand side, stating things like the version number and what date it was released. This will be updated even if there are only minor changes, so if you watch that spot everytime you start Nyx, you should always be up-to-date on the latest features.

Another thread worth mentioning is the Nyx thread in the Art of Webteasing forum. It has tons of useful information, but keep in mind that some posts in that thread are quite old and perhaps not up-to-date anymore.
