Just looking for an idea of the communities opinion of what gets tagged as CH, and what's just a regular video.

Beat meter or stroke sound are the things I want from a Cock Hero.

Also, I'm totally into the old "yellow text vs. pink text" stuff. It's not mandatory but since we are playing a game these short lines of text add a good amount of tease to the video. Especially in those slow pure tease parts of some videos.

I agree "teasiness" MUST be a part of the video.JUST plain fucking in a scene (in my opinion) is NOT CockHero material.The girl or girls sometimes need to LOOK at you, or smile, or say teasy stuff, or do some sort of POV-ish thing.

I agree with the above and just wanted to add that I think these threads are useful, because it's about clearly defining this genre of porn/tease. This is the original home of Cock Hero and it's only right that this is the place to discuss and define what we all mean by the term.

Although the question of "to beat meter or not to beat meter" is an ongoing saga (not to mention "beat meter" being a hilariously apt Spoonerism) I think it's not the key to what makes a CH video. I totally agree that it's about the tease, the build up, not being able to control when (and how) you stroke yourself, but being forced and teased to do it. I also like the yellow vs pink writing, the reward rounds, original content in the breaks, messing around with the structure of breaks, etc. etc. But these aren't what make it a Cock Hero video, they might be what make it a great one though!

Cock Hero has to be forced rhythmic stroking, it has to be a challenge not to cum until the end and, for my money, has to include the editing of music together with video and have a clear beat to follow. Some people may argue that a Cock Hero type challenge with no music (for example JOI only) counts as a CH and I wouldn't argue against that too hard, as long as you've got that beat to match your stroking to.

Yep. I would classify the top two as CH. Only voted for the second because it was more restricted, but still qualified. Anything without beats or a meter is just a music video or a porn compilation. The only exception I have seen is the Horken vids. You can actually watch those back to back in the right order, and the beats of the music are easy enough to follow. Still not technically a CH, but the closest I have seen without beats or a meter.

I do like the vids that build up, starting with some tease, then more and more hardcore as it goes along. But I think its mainly opinion. CH Fail had virtually no tease, but IMO, is one of the best CHs out there.

I left out the "or" purely because I hadn't seen and couldn't think of how a video with just a stroke meter and no beat sound would work.

Although I have a personal preference for a meter, I don't consider it a necessity to be called CH. I do, however, believe that there should have at least a stroke beat.

Personally, I also prefer there be some level of tease involved. It doesn't need to be non-stop text on screen during rounds, but it should be at least some form even if it's just in the intro or between rounds.

Something more than just dubbing music over a porn scene... regular porn has done that for decades.

I personally think that, for it to qualify as a "true" cock-hero style video, it has to have

(a) music background to which there is

(b) instruction of acts required to be performed (generally, and nearly 100% of the time, strokes to be done in time to the music), and that instruction is further indicated by

(c) some kind of visual or auditory display of what the stroke beat will be (a meter, a bar, a blinking dot, a "1 2 3" text, a cowbell-sound tick-tock, SOMETHING),

(d) orgasm deferred until the very end, but temptation to orgasm throughout the video

along with, of course,

(e) hot scenes of performers (attractive women, for me; for other folk, maybe ugly women, or men, or horses, or cellophane, or ...) engaging in hot activities (sexuality, explicit or heavily strongly implied).

I note that some people here also want

(f) a tease element.

I personally do not require (f) and don't exactly see what the difference between that or (b)-plus-(c)-plus-(d)-plus-(e) would be. To be a "tease" is, after all, to be an instructional video, right? And since element (d) requires no cumming until the end, wouldn't that be the same as element (f)? Maybe I'm not an expert on what a "real" (f) would be. Or what a "real" CH should be. But that's my preference, anyhoo. To repeat:

(a) musical background underscoring;
(b) instruction of required strokes;
(c) stroke beat indicated visually or aurally by meter, blink, tick-tock sound, numbers, etc.;
(d) hot sexual performances;
(e)deferred orgasm;
and maybe
(f) tease.
