Re: The Milovana Challenge (TEASEME)
I would like to see a list of other people's work you've used in this tease, please.
It also sounds like you didn't ask their permission first, and I would like to know why not.

Re: The Milovana Challenge (TEASEME)
Okay nevermind, I looked through the XML file. I'm assuming everything I saw in the XML file is present in the tease itself.
I can't speak for the other authors you've borrowed from, I can only speak for myself. Frankly, I don't appreciate what you've done.
You took Ruined by Sisters and used its text to create a "ruin" path for your tease.
You made minor changes to the text to reflect different characters and your tease's overall challenge.
You didn't ask me if it was cool to use or alter my work.
I understand that you put a lot of work into this. All the authors put a lot of work into the teases we create, and we all do it for our own reasons. When it comes to erotica, I write exclusively for Milovana. That's a personal choice I make, because I respect the site and its community. I want to give the site value, and write things the community will enjoy.
You're taking my work and putting it somewhere I don't want it to be. You're also setting a harmful precedent that anyone can stitch pieces of different teases together and call it a new work. Some authors might be willing to share their stuff to enhance your tease, some might not - but I can all but guarantee that they'd want you to at least ask first.
Please take my work out of your tease.

Re: The Milovana Challenge (TEASEME)
Normally, I just stay quiet and lurk but this time. I'm just going to share my apparently unpopular opinion. Yes, you made the original (awesome) work.
However, you put it on the internet and I don't understand why the makers of free content want to exercise so much control. It's out there as information and one of the best things about that is people will take that work and remix it. I'd see it as a form of flattery so long as they credited me, permission or not.
I agree he should have asked permission, but you were credited and asking him to take your stuff out seems wrong. Just leave it be and state that you want to be asked next time.
Of course I'll just be ignored.

I'm with you AzureBalls.
This kind of hard behaviour should be repression and frustrations of his sex life.
1885 should be honored that he made a great work that other authors want to use it in a kind of "best of", he gave you all the credit of your work so stop crying about it.

Hmmm...So by your reasoning then if I take parts of a Stephen King novel and splice it together with a Tom Clancy novel and sprinkle in a little Charles Dickens because I felt like it...Then package it all together, throw my name on it and sell it at a book store, I'm fine right?Azureballs wrote: However, you put it on the internet and I don't understand why the makers of free content want to exercise so much control. I don't need to ask their permission or their publishers, just make a note in my "new" book that I used their stuff, right?
Just because you publish something, doesn't mean you give up your rights to it. I mean if we want to go all legal on it, it's copyright infringement really. All original literature (no matter the type) is automatically considered copyrighted by it's author. Since registration is not required, original copyright is assumed by the creator of the work.
But what 1885 is asking for here isn't about the letter of the law. He's simply asking for a little respect. If you want to use his work...ask. If he doesn't want you to use his work, then respect him and don't use it. Do we really need any more explanation than that?
Frankly, I'm of a similar opinion. If you want to use my work, ask me. Now, I'm a little more lenient than 1885 is. I will probably say yes as long as you credit me and make sure you tell people that you changed it from the original if you do so, but that doesn't mean I don't want to be asked first. There may very well come a time when I don't want you to use something of mine. Who knows?
Respect goes a long way folks. Keep disrespecting authors around here and you'll quickly find that you don't have any good ones left.

Re: The Milovana Challenge (TEASEME)
I can see both sides of this thing.
On one hand we ought to encourage all new creative content, including reuse of material in new contexts.
On the other hand we ought to respect the original author's work. Especially problematic for immersion based teases like 1885 writes, where the reuse messes up the immersion completely.
In any case, the author of any reused content should be asked first!

Yes, I most certainly CAN do it again!

No one is selling it, no one is earning money here, so stop being so serious about it. Of curse it would be better ask first, but come on guys, don't be sou hard.
Cheers.

Re: The Milovana Challenge (TEASEME)
OK, links removed. Sorry about that.
The reason i don't ask before, is because I never thought of release this. I just start with a little modification of the Challenge tease. Not paying attention with what I put in the script. Was a "challenge" to find the original text after that. When I finished, thought I could share the final result.

Lack of profit doesn't change anything. I couldn't do that and give the things away either.CHbr wrote: No one is selling it, no one is earning money here, so stop being so serious about it. LOL

Thanks for speaking up, Azure. I know it's tempting to stay quiet and lurk but I can appreciate people who want to put themselves out there when they have something to say.Azureballs wrote:Normally, I just stay quiet and lurk but this time. I've seen a lot of things over the years that honestly kinda scare me for myself and other authors.
I've seen wannabe dommes rip text out of teases and use them on their sites without the author knowing.
I've seen authors like bloatedballs rip an entire story word-for-word for his tease, not give any credit to the original author and nobody bats an eye.

And then there's ToiletAppleGate: http://www.milovana.com/forum/viewtopic ... 08#p155028
Where's the line between when it's okay to use somebody else work without permission and when it's not? Some authors may be okay with it, some might not. I think they should all have the choice either way, and it seems you agree with that.
I wasn't given that choice, and if I don't speak up on it will I or other authors feel we still have that choice in the future?
I don't agree that's it wrong. Being credited doesn't assuage the fact that I don't want my work in his tease in the first place. And no matter what side of this issue you fall on, he did offer to take stuff out if anyone felt harmed by it. I'm asking him to make good on that.Azureballs wrote:I agree he should have asked permission, but you were credited and asking him to take your stuff out seems wrong.

This is all I'm saying, it doesn't seem unreasonable to me.janmb wrote:In any case, the author of any reused content should be asked first!
Believe me, I understand. I've done a few projects for my own personal use myself. (We've come a long way from the PCM days, haven't we?avatarbr wrote:OK, links removed. Sorry about that.

There's a whole lot of grey area involved (some of the authors you use aren't around anymore, for example), but for those of us who are still here and producing it sets a bad precedent when you don't ask first. To me this is a very slippery slope to "jryan presents Nightmares Become Reality REMIX", or "Cock Hero - Good Luck Seeing the Girls Behind this Massive Wall of Somebody Else's Text Edition". I'm already uncomfortable with where we're at.
Anyway... I hope you get that I'm not trying to come down on you personally, and I appreciate your understanding with this situation.

Re: The Milovana Challenge (TEASEME)
As one of the affected authors I want to add my thoughts to this discussion.
I'm sharing the opinion of 1885 that you should ask the authors before using their work.
In general I have nothing against somebody wanting to use ideas or parts of my teases.
I was able to download the xml and had the time now to look into it. That's a huge Collection of some of the best teases on milovana you put in there.
By the example of The Gamble I looked up which parts you used, to see you copied the whole tease but the core concept of the tease which was the tracking of the achieved chance to cum. I recognized that you changed the interaction between the stages such that it fits into the concept of this huge tease collection. Therefore it's ok for me if you keep it in your tease.
I have another point. As I looked through the file I saw so much hard work and a huge potential. Why don't you come up with an own (small) tease. I'm sure it would be a very good one. And you don't have the problem to ask others if you may use their work

Re: The Milovana Challenge (TEASEME)
i just stumbled upon this thread and i hope, that my question is not inappropriate, but when talking about copyright issues on milovana-teases: where is the respect for the models & photographers?
is anyone asking for permissions? and did every author earn the required distribution rights?
and for the used music in CH? or even sound-F/X within a webtease?
most of the teases i saw, did not credit any source, so i doubt it...

Re: The Milovana Challenge (TEASEME)
So out of interest, those that are objecting to the reuse, did you get explicit permission for the pictures you used in your tease? Or did you work on the priciple that as they are in the public domain you assume it is ok unless someone objects?
I was a little surprised by some ofnthe reactions given the nature of the site.
