5 stars impossible to achieve?

I was thinking that all this time I'm here I never ever saw a 5 star rated webtease. And let's forget less-than-5 votes that affect the rating. Is it even possible to get 5 stars if EVERYONE rated it 5?

I think I heard something about lowest and highest votes get excluded from the formula. However if they are excluded, but there's still total number of votes used, then 5 stars would be technically impossible.

formula should be: (Sum of all marks) / (Number of votes).

so say 10 people voted 5 stars. by this formula it would be like: (5+5+5+5+5+5+5+5+5+5)/10 = 50/10 = 5
HOWEVER if some marks are excluded but total number of votes is the same it'll be so, let's say, 8 marks are counted, but the result still divided by 10, so we get: (5+5+5+5+5+5+5+5)/10 = 40/10 = 4
even if EVERYONE voted 5.


It's just a speculation of weather the formula is right or not.

I've seen teases rated with 5 stars. But they got only less than 10 votes and dropped with the next couple of votes.

Regarding to your example add just one vote less than five stars and the total rating will drop to max. 4.9.

I've also the feeling that the first votes are the highest and with the time and amount of votes the average rating drops until it levels off. For example I've seen a tease with 250 votes and a rating of 4.6. Within the next 50 to 100 votes the tease dropped to 4.3. My Conclusion is that with the amount of votes it gets more difficult to reach really high ratings (4.7+) because if only one dislikes the tease and give 1 star, a lot more 5 star ratings are needed to equal it out.
For example: 100 five star ratings and 5 one star ratings => 505/105 = 4.8

Because its unclear what and how a tease is or should be rated by some one.
It could be spite, technical quality, writing, photos of the model, state of mind, spelling.

You could have written the 1984 of teases but because the model is chubby. You get a lower rating.
You could have Doutzen Kroes pose in every pose you want. And you write 'alot' and 'your/you're'.
You have written well and found a great model, but a bug makes it loop.
Your tease is the pinnacle of technical excellence and will be used for generations to come as a prime example, yet the subject or photo set which was used was part of an elaborate tease by someone else. And you did it first and got great reviews and only he hates you for that.

So is a tease with 4.8 stars truly better than one with 4 stars?

Exactly, and you're not going to please 100% of the people 100% of the time.

Go visit IMDB or Gamespot and check the user scores. you'll never see a perfect score because everyone has varying tastes.

but I teases vote status is not "set" until at least 2000 views
I say this based on my observations of teases I have written. And watching the rating of it.


I would hazard a guess that even a simple statement would cause disagreement.
like "milovana is a fun site"
what does fun mean?

tastes vary view points vary, we even have several cultures here which also can change how something
is seen as "good tease"

It can happen early on, but I would be very surprised if it sustains that rating. I haven't read the tease so I can't comment on it's quality, but it's bound to get a 4 or a 3 rating from someone somewhere along the line.

That's not what he's saying.

He's not asking if it's possible for an author to create a five-star tease, obviously it isn't.

He's asking if it's impossible for the site's rating formula itself to ever calculate a 5.0 score. Which obviously it isn't.

I assure you, the formula is right. Any tease with only 5 star ratings will always get a 5.0 rating overall.

This thread reminds of me of an anecdote: There was a bug recently with the tease rating filter. Namely somebody emailed me that their tease wasn't being shown in the listing - at all. So I investigated and it turned out the tease had a perfect 1.0 rating. Now, the rating filters are all "greater than", so 3.0 for example is "greater than 3.0". The problem was that "All" was set as "greater than 1.0", so a tease with a perfect 1.0 would just never be shown. The filters have now been changed to "greater than or equal", fixing the issue.

Felt really bad for the poor guy. The reason his tease wasn't shown was basically that it was so bad, it broke the site.
