I find it rather expensive compared to a numbered plastic lock.

The Chronovault isn't exactly internet controlled; the mistress sticks a key in the vault, and sets a time duration and locks it using the internet. The slave gets to keep the black box with the key inside. Unlike less expensive key vaults, this one is a tough one to break, so the slave gets the added frustration of having the key to unlock his chastity belt in his possession, but unable to use the key until the time is up.

It is the key dangling just out of reach when being up locked in a chair type of fetish, except that Chronovault is designed to be used for the chastity belt situations where the slave can walk freely about; thus, giving the slave access to tools to break his cock out of his prison.
The other key feature is that the slave has absolutely no clue when the device will open, and absolutely no way of finding out; unless his mistress tells him. The time duration could be anywhere from one minute to 21 years.
The thing the vault ideology misses is that the lock on the chastity belts are breakable. I've never been in chastity long enough to actually seriously consider breaking myself out of it. However, with a possible max imprisonment of 21 years, I'd probably try anything to break free.

Yea, well, it looks funny, but 500 dollars? For real? I can't see the electronics being too complex, and the mechanical part is probably easy as ever. So it's a way too expensive gadget.
Especially considering you can achieve the same experience with cheaper timelocks, I'm sure.
I personally would give about 100-150 dollars max. Not 500.

Also how does it check time? Does it have integrated memory chip, and if so, what happens if a baterry is dead? What kind of components does it use for 500 dollars?

Like, you know, let's face it:
1) Base from high-quality plastic or even metal - about 20 dollars at max.
2) Roof seems to be plastic or, in best case, armoured military-type "glass". About 20-30 dollars at max, and as low as 5 dollars for just a good plastic.
3) Locking mechanism - can't be too complex but safe. I'd say 10 dollars.
4) Electronics, including USB interface, flash memory (probably), some kind of a simple BIOS chip to keep track of time, powered by a baterry - like 5-10 dollars too
5) Software, incl internal driver and PC software with settings - looks like something done in 2 days time, and can't be really expensive.

OK, worst case it's 100 dollars to produce (although mass-prducing something like that is way cheaper). The rest is company interest which is way too high to pay, although I can see why it's so big on such a limited market.

I agree. It is way too expensive with very little use, but it seems to be selling extremely well (going from the blogs).

On a side note, "Stimulation of any other area, especially low resistance areas such as the rectum, the tongue and the female anatomy must not be attempted under any circumstance." I've always heard that anywhere below the belt is safe, male or female, and above the belt is always dangerous. Is e-stim really more dangerous for women than it is for men? I don't think it is too expensive now that I have seen what it can do, what it can withstand and the quality of the piece.

FINALLY someone has designed something that actually WORKS without resorting (at some point) to a "trust" system.
