hiding
I know it is possible to hide the responses of a member from my view
Is it possible to hide a particular thread?
I wish to suppress the
poketeased - inappropriate?
Thread

Re: hiding
As far as I know (I am fairly experienced with phpbb3) what you ask is not possible without manually written extras.
If you want to ignore the content of a single specific thread though, the simplest way of all is simply to not click it.

Yes, I most certainly CAN do it again!

Re: hiding
My current setup is to view every unread post of every thread.
so perhaps janmb and nezhul can let the thread die

You might be able to manage the subscription to the particular topic from the control panel, under manage subscriptions.

Re: hiding
You are asking other users to stop a debate because a single member (you) are too lazy not to read that particular thread? That's just precious.les wrote:My current setup is to view every unread post of every thread.

I'm sure the thread will die soon anyway, just like any other thread naturally does after a while, but in the meantime I wouldn't hold my breath if I was you.
Yes, I most certainly CAN do it again!
Re: hiding
Les, I'll stob debating on the thread you dislike if you stop ever posting in coloured text?
Really, asking such things is over the top.

Re: hiding
I just wanted to make a point that asking someone to stop discussing some topic on the forums just because you don't like/agree with what's being discussed is rude and inapropriate demand.

An ask is one thing
A demand is another.

Re: hiding
It's completely misguided to even ask Les.
You are operating on a forum with thousands of users. It is completely impossible and meaningless to even entertain the idea that people should limit their posting based on what you like to read and not.
It's a fundamental fact for everyone using a large forum, not just you, that there will be interesting topics, uninteresting topics, and even topics we strongly dislike. That happens to all of us. But the answer to that is never to expect people to stop posting what you don't like to read. The answer is to learn to read more selectively.
There are as many preferences and tolerances on this site as there are users. So the adaption clearly MUST happen on the end of the reader, not the poster.
It is perfectly possible to effectively use phpbb3 without using the unread post lists. Merely enter each forum and read the threads you care for, then mark all read once done.... Voila...
