I've tried the three most recent links from this thread for the randomizer application, and all of them are expired. Can someone upload it again? I was using a Mac when andyp first created this, but now I have Windows and would like to try it.

Note, I don't need the CHDB.xml file...I already have that. I need the executable. Thanks. :)

http://filecloud.io/sg4eot2p - this won't last forever. It's a custom CHDB that was kicking about on here a while back which isn't fully up to date so you'll need to play about with that as well. Last updated on 2012/04/29.

I was wondering if there would be any interest in a version of the Randomizer that would run on non-Windows platforms (IE Mac OS or Linux)? I've managed to get a rudimentary version of it together in Java that works reasonably well on the Mac. It parses the same scene database & session script files that the Windows version does, and it spawns a video player application (MPlayer or VLC) to play back each scene. There's no GUI to speak of, so you need to edit text files for settings, but adding a GUI wouldn't take *that* much work if there's interest.

I'd be willing to throw the source code up on Github or something if anybody was interested. Currently it's something only a geek could love -- editing config files, compiling Java code. Assuming I'm not the only non-Windows perv lurking about the place, I wouldn't mind spending some time to clean it up a bit.

Thoughts?

I use Linux about 99.44% of the time and I'd love to try out whatever you cook up.

There is no way to turn off which videos u do not want to part of the randomizer, correct? If it's in the file, it will randomize it? I want to keep all my CH vid files in the folder but sometimes I don't want some of them included in the randoming.

Is there a way to set a time limit? You know, let it random the vids for 1 hour, 2 hours, etc?

You can create a text file that includes the file slot number and the round number in it and load that into the randomizer and tick off "Randomise list". You can create custom themes or just get rid of rounds you don't like that way.

You have to go through the vid looking for how many rounds it has, correct? If I wanted to play 3 videos out of all the CH vids in the file I would see how many rounds they have and set the randomizer to play all those rounds, right?
ex. CH vids 1, 2, and 3 each have 11 rounds. 1-1 1-2 ------ 1-11, 2-1 ------ 2-11, 3-1 -------- 3-11

Is their an easy way to know how many rounds the vid has w/out playing it? Not a big deal to play it, just wondering.

Also, it would be good if u could add pics to it to be viewed between the vid rounds. Not sure if that's hard to do, my programming knowledge is old.

Hey I haven't tested it but here are all the codes I have in the CHDB (the excelfile I posted some time ago) right now. It could be a start for you to create a list with rounds you want to play. But some rounds could be missing!

Does anyone know where to get a .xml pr0gram so I could change the file to break it up into rounds or even add the CH video I mention above?

You can use notepad. Or if you want a bit more out of it download notepad++.

And the video you're asking about should be Cock Hero 4. If its 40:20 thats the one for sure.

I don't want to take over development, but if you're not planning to do more updates it would be nice of you to share the code, if you're willing. I do some programming for a living and would be interested in seeing it. Maybe someone else with the time and energy has some ideas for some improvements they'd want to implement.

I actually went ahead and wrote a similar app for myself that will take the same xml database file and a similar (but more fully-featured) "playlist" file format. It's in Java and uses bindings for VLC, so (in theory) should be completely cross-platform.

I actually looked into what it would take to make this as a web app for some time but unfortunately the browser support for arbitrary video codecs is just really not there. That makes your options a) try to embed plugins (tends to be really flaky, especially on OSX/Linux) or b) transcode all of the CH videos (ugh).

Anyways, would folks be interested in this? I'd put it on github but don't want to associate publicly with it for obvious reason.
