Buttplug advice?

Post by edgeallday »

I've done some light anal play with 2-3 fingers and enjoy it, so now I am thinking about taking it to the "next level" and buying a butt plug (or two) to try. The only problem is I don't even know where to start. There seems to be such a wide variety available.

This seems to be the "standard" plug
Then there are plugs that curve inside you like this
Then there are plugs with multiple ripples
There's also inflatable plugs and vibrating plugs, plus a lot of other strange shapes.

I was wondering what types people here have experience with and found the most enjoyable? Thanks for any tips/advice you can give. :-)

I searched the forums and didn't really find anything so apologies if this has been asked before.

I would go for the standart for the first time. Can't say anything about the curvy one, may or may not be more comfortable. The third one is likely to slip out really easy, because it's necks are not much slimmer than the main body.

Personally what I'd suggest: you shouldn't buy a plug the size of a mellon, but you shouldn't be afraid of medium ones. Anal is stretchy if you relax it.
You should also pay attention to the neck of the plug. The difference in grith of the neck and the base and body should be good in order for it to hold good.
Plugs with longer necks allow more comfortable wear and also some sort of fucking because you can slide it back and forth.
While you are at it consider a plug with vibrator.
Get some lube for your plug.
Choose high-quality rubber or plastic (or metal if you like) for the material. For example my first plug was made out of some silicone and it kept smell no matter how long I washed it with or without soap. Maybe better quality silicone would do better, but I was buying it the cheapest, because wasnt really sure if it's my thing.
Plugs with longer carrot-like body are easier to slip in, but too long of a body can cause (me) bad feelings as it pushes too far.

Well my first bought anal plug was quite a letdown. I have experimented with a couple homemade anal toys before so i decided it was time to buy the real thing. That nice and comfortable looking "medium" plug turned out to be way too big for me and i couldn't get it into position no matter what. Maybe i'm just tight ass

Anyways just as bad was the smell of that thing. It was silicon with some kind of perfume impregnated into it and let me tell you it was horrible. Not as bad as it would be naturally, but way, way too strong for a toy that should be discrete. When i came from work i could smell it in the air even through several layers of plastic bag. Had to get rid of the thing eventually.

I'd recommend the middle one you found there for a first timer. I used it way back, and it's smallish, but very comfortable, and very soft. It doesn't really stay in by itself very well for long term use, but again, for first timer, it'll give you a nice comfortable feel of something being in there.

The first you showed is indeed the "de-facto standard" as far as anal plugs go. Fairly safe bet again, but watch the sizes, some offer the same look at various sizes.

The third one, I have seen, but have no personal experience with, however, it might be a bit larger than you want for first time.

I've recently bought a glass plug, and absolutely love it, but it is fairly large, and not for the beginner  .

As other's mentioned, stick with softer materials at first, watch for a larger flared base, with a longer neck. In my experience, the shorter the neck, the more uncomfortable it was.

Good luck!

Check out aneros.com

Although they are not just plain plugs in the traditional sense, they are absolutely amazing.
Yes, I most certainly CAN do it again!

I just got an aneros and I love it. It takes a little bit getting used to but it can improve your quality of orgasm immensely. Plus, if you get good enough with it, you can have hands-free orgasms with no (or little) mess :)
