This is the place for general discussions on fetishes, sexuality and anything else. What's on your mind right now?

Can't believe I missed this thread when it was started the other day. *wipes glasses*

I can see how annoying it must be to recieve constant unwanted PMs all the time. and maybe there is a way people have to ask for a PM before they even have that facility. I guess that is one for Turtle to fathom out.

I can't really see what Nadine is complaining about with regards to censorship as she has clearly posted what in reality is meant to be a private message. It's akin to posting a private email without permission. In one breath she is essentially complaining about someone invading her privacy and in the next she is violating his. Hardly the basis for a relevant argument. However her post has raised some interesting questions.

1. Is there a way we can stop the age old problem of unsolicited PMs?
2. Why is it unacceptable to post what happens in chat on the forums?
3. Should the chat rules be more prominent when entering chat?

The two entities are suppose to remain separated from one another.
Just out of curiosity could I ask for an explanation of why this is from either yourself or Seraphox, Jen?

It was available in the old chat.
In fact the link to the chat room could be at the bottom of the rules page
Agreed Les, maybe this is something for the coders to work on integrating before you can access chat, maybe a tick box or something.
Though even when it was prominent in the old flashchat people ran riot anyway; breaking the rules with impunity. So I fear this would be ineffective.
And with the added way of gaining access to chat through 3rd party applications it would need to be integrated into that somehow.

I did find in the old chat the most effective thing to do was minimise the pleading pains PM window.
Then another's PM could get through but not the pains.

As the software gave all or none with PMs.

As I now use trillian for milo chat I can do this,
But what about others?

Then I'll explain:
It makes no sense for somebody to get so mad about censorship on a website while at the same time apparently being okay with being censored IRL. If she's adapted to living in a society that bans all sorts of things, this should pose no problem, since it's not even comparable.

The amount of dumbness taking place in this thread is outstanding.

Won't need to upload it anywhere else because it doesn't have the shitty restrictions all the others have. Besides emp, some people like seeding there, so keep that.

Not really... it makes no sense what you are talking atm. Like i said... those two things are not related to each other. She is a person and doesn´t need to stand behind the laws of her goverment. Besides of that, isn´t the censorship in germany not that hard.

Sorry to Nadine that the rules weren't displayed clearly. This is partly due to the new chat - we tried to set up a message sent to every new user but didn't quite get it working yet.

Good point, I added some information on the rules on that new chat portal page.

Yeah, that's a bit quirky. The reason is that Jen is in charge of chat rules while I'm in charge of the forum. I feel very strongly about freedom of speech, but I do do the chat mods the courtesy of enforcing their rules on the forum which includes the "no posting of chat logs". So for the moment it is one of the few exceptions to the freedom of speech you'll otherwise enjoy in the forum section.

It would still be interesting to hear the reasons behind this rule. But hey the admins of Milo don't really seem that interested in answering the queries of the users, so I'm kind of expecting this to be ignored like many other questions that I and other users have asked. *shrugs*

EDIT: PS

I have never heard the toleration of racism described as "quirky" before.

Amazing that Seraph0x can't remember the rules and reasons for them when he put them in place himself ...

Well that thread doesn't really give any kind of reason, and no offence intended, but if Indigo wants to be involved in the discussion he really should not have had his account deleted.

Indigo™ wrote: You're probably right, Banquo. I've certainly given it a lot of thought, but ultimately didn't want to be tied to this community anymore, that's why I asked to have my account deleted. That said, I ask Anna to post for me when I feel my previous experience with the site has some benefit.

As to your original question - the decision was made by Seraph0x after a debate between two users, Ashe and Princess Christie got *way* out of hand. Part of the issue was that both had posted large portions of chat history on the forums to justify bashing one another, and in the process, created a flame war the likes of which hasn't been re-lived on the forum since. Thank god for that.

Ultimately, the decision was voted on, and adopted as policy on the forum, and there's been no reason to modify or change it. I suspect this is also much of the reason behind the reticence in making the chat-logs public.

Well... you make a good point there. I really can't argue with that: freedom of speech should be paramount. Sorry I was rude about it.
