Seriously tho... I've put less planning and time in doing video teases than using Nyx and dealing with all the buggery that goes with it.
I've read the original Nyx Tutorial by green and have parsed through a lot of Nezhul's Advanced Tricks in Nyx Editor thread... but there are a few things I actually encountered in my doing my first FlashTease that I feel should be mentioned... so people don't go through the headaches I went through on my first tease.
1) File naming (images and audio files)
It's smart to rename all the images and audio files, so you can keep track of them easily. One thing to keep in mind is that any images that uses underscore (e.g. "_") in their file names, when you upload them to Nyx, they'll change to hyphens. So for example, if you have an image named "sexy_blond.jpg" on your computer, when you upload it to Nyx it'll be changed to "sexy-blond.jpg". So, if you're writing the code to your Flashtease outside of Nyx and copy & paste it in the script, keep in mind that change.
2) Image sizing
This sounds obvious, but since I was dumb enough not to realize why my 1.5MB images were loading SO slowly in the Flashtease.
3) SAVE, SAVE AND FREAKING SAVE
Another obvious one... but make a habit of saving after EVERY change you make on each page. Real obvious, but make it a habit!
4) Copy & Paste is your goddamn savoir
I would say, every 20-30 minutes, go to the Script viewer, select all and copy & paste the FlashTease code into a new .txt document. I don't know why Nyx sometimes removes parts of text from my FlashTease and/or removes tons of pages... but MAN, I was so upset 2 days ago when 80 pages were just gone and I had forgotten to do a recent copy & paste.
5) Visual Image Selector and the "Filter" feature - avoid using if you make a big Flashtease.
After about 200 pages and over 300 images uploaded, the image selector in the Visual window basically took FOREVER to load. So learn to use the Script window more if you're going to do big teases.
I love the Filter feature to help you find images... but if you plan to use the "random filter" image tag code to display a random series of images (i.e. pic("*sexygirl*") ), to me it takes a bit long to display images using that random filter code.
Anyway, hopefully this thread is in the right place - if not, my apologies. Just trying to impart some helpful advice to those who have grand ideas for future FlashTeases.
