Re: Call for participation -- first draft
This is in my own words.
Ok a standard battery cell is 1.5 volts,
The Alkaline holds about 800mAh that means it could theoretically give 800 milli amps for one hour.
Mistaken for watts which is close in value but means the energy given.
The rechargeable are 1.2 volts not much difference for one cell but 4 alkaline give 6 volts and it Five rechargeable for that.
Modern rechargeable are available at 2,400 mAh and more, three times the capacity.
Electricity is limit by resistance so the lower the resistance the higher the current (named because early scientists, called electricians, imagined electricity to be a liquid and flowed like a river current).
The internal resistance is lower in a rechargeable battery than an alkaline so are more useful in heavy use like Cameras for example.
Because the energy is produced by chemical means in the Alkaline it will tail off and even appear to "Recharge" if left when near its end of useful life.
Whereas a rechargeable will stop suddenly.

Call for participation: what vibes, toys, etc.?
Greetings all,
We seem to have a basic consensus on the first project's hardware: start with an Arduino (or clone/work-alike that takes standard Arduino shields), the adafruit motor shield and a DC power supply of your choice (see links earlier in this thread.)
However, I haven't seen much discussion about what toys/vibrators/etc. people want to control, except in rather general terms. I think it will be useful to gather info on what toys people would like to control -- or vibes they enjoy, even if they're not planning to try controlling them from webteases yet. (Note that right now, we're not focusing on vibes that take house current.) Since many vibes are re-sold under a number of names, it woud be helpful if people post not just the name/model (if known), but also any electrical and mechanical info they can easily gather. For example, even if you can't measure current, you can say what kinds of batteries it takes and how many. For size and shape, perhaps post links to photos or post some measurements (e.g. overall shape, length, diameter, etc.)
Since we are still a fairly small band, I suggest simply posting info here will do, rather than setting up anything elaborate, like an online poll. So, if you either have toys/vibes you want to control, or have vibes you especially like using, please post some info here. (We were going to standardize on two channels, but the motor shield can apparently handle up to four DC motors, so don't feel constrained to just two.)
I'll go first, and hope others will chime in. Please post whatever info you have, even if it's not as (compulsively) detailed as I've done.
Channel 1:
Intended for use on:
men (myself); open to adapting to women, should any locals be interested.
Part, description, vendor/link, price if known:
Product #: CNVELD-PD2319-24, "Mini One Touch Cockring," Mfgr. D.A.V.E., http://www.collarsandrestraints.com/pro ... -PD2319-24 $5.13 US.
Electrical:
3 volts at 0.025 Amps, originally from 2x AG3/LR41 Alkaline Button Cells, 1.5V
Shape and size:
Vibrator capsule removed from cock ring: cylindrical with rounded ends, 1.86" (47.3 mm) long, not counting button by 0.5" (12.5 mm) diameter
Other notes:
Planning to use just the vibe "capsules" from the cock rings; easy to remove, nice and quiet. I plan to use two in electrical parallel, near the tip of my cock. Could be more or fewer. Easily adaptable as clitoral stimulators for women. The current is actually small enough that one of these could be driven by a digital output of current Arduinos -- if one added protection for inductive voltage spikes (a diode) and electrical noise (capacitor or two) to protect the Arduino.

Electrical: 3 volts @ 0.7 Amp, originally from 2xAA cells
Shape and size:
Butt plug,
Insertable length: 4.75" (120 mm) measured (not what webpage says)
Max diam: 1.65" (42 mm)
Min diam: 0.9" (22.9 mm)
Other notes:
2.2 mm plug on 25" cord. As part of a separate project, I'm going to try to add a sensor to this, to measure closeness to orgasm, for a teasing machine.

Re: Call for participation -- first draft
I think most people having mentioned details about what toys they're gonna use, because they don't have a clue. I was thinking of using
Channel_1
Priceless II Sex Machine
Intended for use on: penis
Part, description, vendor/link, price if known: price is way too expensive ($169)
http://www.kenstwistedmind.com/Fucking- ... -1000.html
Other notes: PiJoy's idea for Channel 1 is much cheaper and sounds much better
Channel _2
Nexus Vibro
http://www.tootimid.com/nexus-vibro.html
Intended for use on: anal
Part, description, vendor/link, price if known: the price is way too expensive
Other notes: I have no clue how well this plug would work for Penile Plesmygraph, but I would try to use it in the same way.
Alternative Channel_2
Risque butt plug
http://www.tootimid.com/risque-vibrating-butt-plug.html
Intended for use on: Anal
Other notes: I have no clue how well this plug would work for Penile Plesmygraph, but I would try to use it in the same way.
Alternate Channel_2
Getting a custom-designed buttplug from http://www.madetopleasure.com
Size can be anything from 1.5 inches wide to 4.5 inches wide, and from 5 inches long to 9 inches long
Other notes: They focus more on dildos and don't have slots for bullets yet. This makes it realistically impractical to be used by a micro-controller.

Re: Call for participation: what vibes, toys, etc.?
Bandit224,
Thanks for your prompt response to my call for info on toys/vibes, etc. to control via webteases.
Your fist choice ("Priceless II Sex machine) is an interesting one, not a vibrator at all. Note that it requires a separate actuator, namely a:
Regarding your primary choice and first alternate choice for channel two:
Both of those are smart/multi-mode vibrators, with their own custom (and undocumented) control circuitry built in. First off, those are more expensive, and I don't think their electronics will necessarily play nicely with our proposed electronics. Although it's probably not impossible to wire either of these up so that one could use it either in it's original modes and additionally switch it over to treat it as a "dumb" DC motor, to be controlled via an Arduino+motor shield, I couldn't guarantee that you could make it work in both modes, without seeing the packaging and internal electronics, because so much depends on the circuitry in the toy, and how accessible the motor leads are. If the motor leads are accessible, then a DPDT switch, interposed between the motor and the other electronics could connect the pair of motor leads either to the original "smart" electronics or to an Arduino motor control shield. However, it's not clear whether you could get access to the motor leads without cutting apart the toy, irreparably
. So, you may want to look into similarly shaped toys, but with "dumb" (and lower cost) vibrators instead -- and let the magic of Arduino hacking (and the many online examples and tutorials) let you add back in whatever modes you want.
I'm not trying to pour cold water on your ideas; I just want to help you see the issues before you spend money on something that might not work the way you want.
Hope this helps. Thanks again for posting your ideas; I appreciate it.

So, above the price of this toy, one needs a cordless electric screwdriver to drive it. Those are typically higher voltage than typical vibes, and probably also need more current. So check on the voltage and current of the electric screwdriver of your choice uses, before proceeding. You may want to check the voltage and current *before* buying the adafruit motor shield, and perhaps substitute the higher current, two channel motor shield from sparkfun. I'm assuming that the Mfgr. has a way of connecting most scrwedrivers to this toy, but that's also worth checking out before shelling out $169 + cost of cordless screwdriver and a fleshlight.External Power
Use cordless electric screwdriver or drill you already have

Re: Call for participation -- first draft
Ah thanks. Yeah the toys I had in mind were way too expensive for me, but something custom-made would be cheaper and able to be designed to fit the proposed electronics.
As for the electronic screw-driver, I'm not worried about that as those devices usually connect to a wall outlet with voltage regulator and fuse for safety, or get some other power buffs from a second source.
I somewhat remember seeing at least 10 butt plugs that were the same shape as the ones I mentioned without the expensive proprietary circuitry.
About half (rough guess) of the sex toys on the market allow for the easy interchanging of the bullet. The ones I mentioned aren't one of those. Though it won't be the same with a weaker bullet, it's an easy start.
Don't worry about putting cold water on my ideas, your suggestions are really hot water on some ideas that are already on cold water.

I haven't tested it yet, but I think that an anal toy that's designed to move significantly, due to PC muscle action (Aneros or similar), will give a signal complicated by the motion of the toy (and thus any attached sensors) relative to the sphincter itself. I'm going to try using a classic butt plug, one that has a tapered tip, and then a rounded/reverse taper, down to a narrow cylindrical "stem." That shape is designed to stay in, not move too much, and the stem part stays in the sphincter itself, except during insertion or extraction.
The stem area is where I'm working on putting a pressure sensor. Right now I'm looking for a good way to attach and also long-term water/lube/etc proof sensors located there, since my last toy's sensor died from moisture/corrosion. Probably also a condom for extra protection; though it'd be nice to have it well sealed by itself, at least for solo play. There are chemical compatibility issues, and some things make silicone toys melt into goo. So I'm using a PVC plug right now, one marked no Phalates (I hope they're not lying about that.)
Question for any women reading this:
Are there any toys you like for vaginal insertion, that tend to stay put, unless somebody is pushing on them -- from the outside. If so, would you please describe what you like, as best you can (e.g. length, diameter, overall shape...), including Mfgr., name and a link if you have it handy.
Thanks for your time and attention!
