OK, I have a few questions, but I figured it would be best to start at the beginning. There is a particular tease on this site which I have played a number of times, and like very much, but later discovered a variation to it which I would like even better. After playing my version of it a few times, I finally wrote it up as a tease, but I have not published it yet. While my version gives credit to the original writer within the tease, so much is copied that I thought I should get the original writer's permission first. So I set up the "Share privately" option to let the original writer view it, and then sent her a private message with a link to my version, asking her for permission to publish my version of her tease. This was over a month ago.
According to the original author's profile, she has not logged into Milovana since then (if only I had sent her that message one week earlier!). So I started to think that since it has been a month, perhaps I now publish it anyway. If the original user logs in and finds my copy, she will also see my message from a month ago and know that I made the attempt to contact her first. I decided to also send a follow-up private message explaining this. But when I went to my private messages, I saw that my first message to her was in the "Outbox" folder, not the "Sent" folder. So, even if she logs in, would she get the message? Did I just press the wrong key and not send it? I did send a follow-up, but it appeared in the "Outbox" folder too.
So now I have two questions. First, technically, how does the private message feature work? Do I need to do something different to actually send a message? Or does it stay in "Outbox" until the other user logs in and sees it? In the second case, will she see the date I actually sent it?
Secondly, is there a normal rule of etiquette for publishing modifications of other people's teases? Is it enough that I gave the original author credit at the beginning of my tease? If not, how long am I obligated to wait for a her to see my message, and have the opportunity to give me permission? What if she never does sign on to this site again to see my message?
I think that's enough questions. I hope someone has answers.

The message stays in the outbox until the other person reads it (that´s what I know for sure) and I think the other person should be able to see the time you wrote it.

The normal etiquette is to credit and maybe link the author's original work in the beginning of the tease or in the comics. You sent her a pm, which is also encouraged but not necessary, but if you say she hasn't logged on in a while then you're good to go.

I think in the terms of service it says something like
Not sure if that means those users are allowed to submit those prepared derivatives.by submitting the User Submissions to Milovana, you hereby [...] grant each user of the Milovana Website a non-exclusive license to [...] prepare derivative works of [...] such User Submissions
