Scheduled chat downtime this Saturday

The chat will be offline this Saturday, due to scheduled maintenance by our hosting provider. Here is the message they sent us:
We will be conducting a network maintenance on our core infrastructure this Saturday @ 2:00 PM PST (GMT-8) 10/29/2011. The upgrade consists of bringing in additional network capacity to our network along with upgrading our core routers. Reviewing our current analysis on our traffic patterns we’ll outgrow our current capacity within a few weeks/months. Thus we are taking this opportunity to increase our core infrastructure before we outgrow our current capacity.

We picked this time due to the lowest traffic usage. There will be brief interruption while we upgrade our equipment lasting roughly 30 minutes. The outages are simple BGP convergence while everything re-route around the down circuits. We thank everyone for understanding and hope the added feature will benefit everyone in the long run. If you have any question in regards to this upgrade please contact our support team.
Hopefully this will solve the network outages that the chat has been experiencing in September/October.

This maintenance won't affect the main site which is hosted with a different company.

ummmm...*blushing*....can someone please tell me what time that will be for my time....the Florida, East Coast, United States???

2pm UTC-8 is Pacific time zone, so +3 hours for Eastern time zone would be 5pm your time.

Looks like there is going to be a round two:
We have another schedule maintenance for Saturday 11/05/2011 @ 12:00PM – 12:00AM PST. We have extended the maintenance window to 12 hours to allow our engineers to properly do the upgrade. We do NOT anticipate 12 hours of downtime, however this extended window will allow us to monitor the situation for duration of the time allowing us to revert or modify any changes during its maintenance period. Downtime can be from 5-10 minutes while our core router reboots into its newly replaced module.

Please note that last week upgrade did not go as plan where equipment from our vendors was faulty. Thus causing an extended period of instability through out the network. Many users experienced instability during DDOS attacks, improper use of QOS, and finally bad route decisions made in our BGP routes. These issues have been corrected and we do not anticipate any issues in regards to instability. If you have any questions and/or comments please contact us through our support desk.
