Webtease tags idea ...

You know, I'm normally loathe to suggest changes to how people author teases, but this one occurred to me earlier, while using the built-in search function ... what if authors added a custom tag, with the name of the model they're using in their teases?

Basically, that would add a *huge* benefit to utilizing the search function. Any user who wanted to find a tease with Sandy Westgate could type it into the search box, and come up with a list of results with that tag.

You folks are the ones doing the work, what do you think of the idea?

It's a terrible idea, and I think no one should do this. The reason is that it will open up the site and authors to much grief over copyright issues. I actually used to put the names of the models in the first pages of teases, for the same misguided reason you suggest, and shortly after that several teases of mine were sent DCMA notices for copyright violations. I think some copyright holders search for names, and then issue DCMA notices when they find pictures that they own and consider to be improperly used. So doing this would lead to trouble, and I strongly urge that this suggestion be disregarded. Sorry, but I speak from bitter experience.

So, basically, you are suggesting that it is OK to violate copyright if you make it harder for the copyright owners to find out?

Come on don't play the moral card here.
We don't distribute illegal copies of porn on this site but the pictures are used in a creative way to build something new. It doesn't hurt the owners if anything a model becomes more popular. It's a bit like fan fiction.
So if it isn't legal it should be. Some content producers that don't understand the internet shouldn't spoil the fun.

Wow, really interesting, actually. How did they contact you, or did they contact a site administrator? And did anything become of the threats? It has been said before on the forums by people, trying to back up their legality, who claim that using the promotional images from other websites was fine as those images have the logo in the corner and actually came off a free site provided anyways. Never thought this myself, honestly.

It's more curiosity, than anything, at least for me. I don't think either way it would stop people making teases if people found out that this site lives in a very gray area of copyright issues.

I found out first because some of the images in my teases disappeared. I understand that milovana was contacted, then they took the pictures down, but were slow in contacting me, as they were trying to figure out the exact response. Finally I got clarification about the exact pictures. Those pictures were older ones without logos, that I had gotten from the net, but were allegedly stolen by someone else. I then took the affected teases offline, and then I eventually rewrote them all using different models, which took quite some time and effort. I still try to avoid using images from Suze.net, who was the biggest complainer in the case. Now I always avoid pictures without advertising logos if I can as well.

I believe that milovana now knows how to handle such cases, and plans to unpublish teases right away if they run into such DMCA complaints.

I don't advocate breaking the law, but as was mentioned, I don't think it's good to ease overzealous enforcement of copyright laws either.
