Ads on the right during webteases are bad
I don't mind too much advertisments on the right of the page when looking at the home page, forum posts, or lists of teases.
But as an author of webteases, I strongly dislike having ads that are shown while viewing a (non-flash) webtease. The author should be able to present the image they want to the reader, without this distraction.
I think it really ruins the effect.
I don't plan to present any more webteases until this is changed, and I urge all like-minded authors to do the same!

Seconded. Use Firefox and get the addon AdBlock Plus. Then, all you do is right-click the ad and click 'block'. It's that simple.lockupboy wrote:Firefox and Adblock Plus.

I never knew they were there.
A) I use firefox with ad-block
B) Can see them in IE but have to scroll to see them.
C) If it keeps the site "FREE" OK.
D) But no more than that for now.
E) As I now Know they are there I will look from time to time.

That is not going to work on the iPhone...lockupboy wrote:Firefox and Adblock Plus.

But normal (non-flash) webteases do play on an iPhone.
Thanks for the support of almost all taking the poll.
Again I'm fine with ads, just not during the playing of webteases (or composing of them).
Re: Ads on the right during webteases are bad
Well with Milovana being free, and all, I dont mind a strip of adverts down the side.
Re: Ads on the right during webteases are bad
I second the "resize the browser window" suggestion.
The ads are a one-time, fixed-price run of one month. After that we'll see what we learned and I'll definitely take your feedback on board. Right now we needed the cash to pay our accounting bills, but next time around we'll negotiate harder and if we can't get a good deal, the ads will be gone.
I've been thinking about other solutions - I could see a feature that anybody who's authored a tease with a rating > 3 gets the ability to turn off the ads. We've also talked before about a sponsorship feature where you can pay something like 5$/year and get a [sponsor] tag to show you support the site. Obviously that would also come with complete ad-freedom.
We're absolutely not interested in "maximizing profits" as far as Milovana.com is concerned. Our general strategy is to keep Milovana.com free and start other premium projects that we can launch through this site. In the meantime however we have to make some money through Milovana just to keep it running.
In conclusion: For the next month the ads are paid for, so we can't turn them off on webtease pages or make an exception for authors. After that though - if we keep them at all, we'll make sure that we offer ways to get rid of them for anyone who's bothered by them.
I'm also absolutely open for suggestions if you have ideas for other less intrusive ways to raise money.

Re: Ads on the right during webteases are bad
Well, just shooting off some ideas off my head (no pun intended!)
a) View more flash teases! The ads don't appear when you click on the flash tease!
b) Minimize the window via google chrome (as suggested before)
c) Make them disappear if the user logs into the account. This means that the ads only appear to the general public. If they want to get rid of the ads, they can login to their free account.
d) When people sign up for their free account, put an option to say if they wish to receive adverts and target them for advertising. It does make for more focused marketing.Perhaps a hook up with some bondage gear store(Stockroom.com?) with discount coupons might get people interested.
e) Do some rotational banners with Milovana recommends (Other than those with kink.com?)
Just my 2 cents ...

Adding my 2 cents...
My two biggest issues with the ads were:
1. The pictures in the ads kept changing. If it had been a single picture, fine. But the constantly changing pictures were very distracting.
2. Quite honestly, I'm one of those that does not want to see male genitalia in his porn, and the site advertised featured such quite clearly.
So I initially resized the window, then used Mozilla to turn off the ads entirely.
I understand the need for the ads, and if it wasn't for those 2 issues I might have kept them there, but for now, I'm keeping my Milovana viewing ad-free.

Re: Ads on the right during webteases are bad
Resizing the browser window is definately the best solution imho. I'm not sure if adblock would be such a good Idea, I mean if the ads are not displayed at all, there probably won't be any profit made $___$.

Re: Ads on the right during webteases are bad
I only just noticed the adverts.
I've never seen a wbsite go to such trouble to hide the ads, and I've always been impressed that I haven't seen any.
I say well done, and thanks, to the Milovana people. Leave these ads there permenantly- you deserve to be properly paid for your work!
