Hi everyone, I'd like to create a thread to announce Hero Corruption 2 updates here on Milovana's forum.
Hero Corruption was born on this website and not posting the new updates here feels like a huge step backwards, so...

It is with great pleasure that I announce the first version of Hero Corruption 2. It took several months of learning, research and work for this version to finally be released, many thanks to all who supported the project and offered your help.


First let's deal with the elephant in the room: This version is fully playable but far from optimized, especially the UI of some shops which can be unintuitive or messy.
Please be patient about this.
The idea was to release the first playable version so that I could collect feedback from all of you.


With that out of the way, let's get to the fun part:
First of all, you can access the Main Menu at any time by pressing the ESC key. In this menu there are important information such as Corruption level, Addictions, Enemies page, Hero Level and Attributes
Yep, your Hero now has a Level, the only way to gain experience is by defeating enemies, for now.
Every time you level up you can use the awarded Points to improve your Attributes, all you have to do is click the "Attributes" button at the Main Menu.
Each point spent on a specific Attribute increases a sub-attribute (Maxim. Lust, Stamina Regen., etc.), but also increases the cost of the primary Attribute
Keep in mind that you can only improve your Attributes while you are in Base
The higher your level, the greater the amount of Points received
Leveling up is not the only way to accumulate points, you can also acquire them by purchasing Perks in your Skill Tree every time you start a new Run. The currency used to buy Perks is Fame, which can only be earned in completed past Runs.




The encounters also had some changes, from now on you can use your own HP to get rid of "Addiction Checks", the option to "Struggle" will only be available if you have enough HP for it, so maybe it's time for you to start giving some love to your Hit Points too. You can still use "Resist" if you want to conserve your HP or are feeling safe with the odds.
Lastly, you cannot "Struggle" in all checks, especially Bad Endings triggers.


New Status Effects are present:
"Intoxicated" will cause your Lust to gradually increase based on your Corruption, regardless of your Addictions
"Masturbate" makes your hero skip his own turn and lowers his current stamina, think of it as Aroused 2.0.
Some powerful enemies can also make your Attributes drop, if this happens the cost to upgrade them will not decrease, so try to avoid this as much as possible.


Potions no longer increase Max. Lust and Max. HP, instead they increase the related primary Attribute (INT and VIT, respectively). You can still find them in the wild, but their price in the Shop is now related to how many days have passed in-game
Speaking of the City, The Tavern is closed for cleaning. It will open again after some time, so no need to panic.


About the game itself:
There are four versions available: Windows, Linux, Mac and Android. Saves do carry over between new versions without an issue.
But please refrain from grinding in advance, this is the first version and a lot can change.


Most PCs should run the game without any problem, but some older machines may run into issues, here are the basic requirements according to the engine developer:
"(...)A user's computer have OpenGL 2, DirectX 9, OpenGL ES 2, or WebGL to run Ren'Py. The model-based renderer requires OpenGL ES 3 or WebGL 2. Ren'Py no longer runs on Windows XP ."
Also worth mentioning if you go to the settings and check "Skip Transitions" the gameplay will be much smoother.


Finally, This might make some of you happy and others not so much: GAME IS HARD
Even if you buy all the Perks, the Deep Forest boss won't be easy, the difficulty will be adjusted over time, just like HC1

You can now choose between Easy, Normal and Hard Mode

Easy mode disable achievements

This toggle will only be available for completely new saves, previous saves are set to "normal" difficulty

MOBILE UI

Mobile UI has been reworked
All choice buttons are now at the bottom of the screen for easier access
Some text formats and sizes have been readjusted
This new version was practically playtested entirely on the mobile, so I personally think it's much more comfortable, but please let me know what you guys think about it.


BONUS ATTRIBUTES

For now bonus attributes can only be acquired through the new accessories
They are very similar to normal attributes, but should help in the completion of possible builds and individualize each hero
At the moment, the only practical difference is that they cannot be decreased by enemy moves, but I already have plans for them in the next updates


NEW ENEMIES AND RELATED IMPROVEMENTS

Enemy increased spawn times are now randomized every new run
The increased spawn times can still be seen on their profile screens and these are updated accordingly
This means you still have some control over which enemies you want to fight, but if you're just exploring blindly, there will be more enemy diversity, which should improve replayability


The game now also tracks the amount of times a girl has been defeated in a single run
The enemy profile screen has been readjusted to accommodate this new addition and now also display the EXP gained from an encounter
This info is now being used to change the behavior of certain enemies (Olivia, Megan and Kali)


Charlotte (Swamp)
Charlotte likes diversity too, how about learning something from her?

Dixie (Swamp)
Dixie can do it for pain or for pleasure, but thankfully it's not up to you to decide

before you start playing, I strongly recommend that you clean up the persistent data from previous versions in this update.
Windows users can delete the "HeroCorruption2-1648729160" folder in "...\AppData\Roaming\RenPy". While Adroid users only need to clear the app's data and cache

Changes:

REFINEMENT SYSTEM

Accessories can now be refined at the forge after unlocking a specific perk.
Accessories can be refined up to +20, each attempt consumes 1 Iron.
Attribute gain is exponential, every 5 refinements the amount of bonus Attribute received increases by +1.
EXP Ring is now refinable too


REWORKS

Confusion Debuff:

Reaction time now takes into consideration the difference between the player's current and maximum Lust, current Corruption and current CON attribute
The higher the Hero's Lust, the number of wrong alternatives also increases
Choice positioning is now truly random


Escape Mechanic:

Chance of a successful escape no longer increases by 10% with each failed attempt. Instead, this chance is increased by AGI%
Unsuccessful attempts keep stacking up normally


NEW AREA: THE JUNGLE

The Jungle is the new hardest area in the game.
Unlike the Dark Woods in Hero Corruption 1, the Jungle is pretty straight forward, similar to the Swamp, Deep Forest and Forest.
Two common girls are hanging out here, there is no bosses just yet.

RECIPE STORE
  • The new Recipe Store is located in a new area within the City, the Central Square. You can access it by unlocking the new Perk at the Skill Tree
  • The Store opens every three days, so be sure to plan ahead
  • Three recipes will always be available for sale: A weapon, an accessory and a last special one
  • Weapons and accessories now have a rarity factor, this means that some recipes are more likely to be on sale than others
  • The special recipe ignores the rule above, so all recipes in this slot have the same odds. However, you will have to pay a little extra for it

Alternative bosses have been implemented, these new girls are here to introduce a little more variety to the Forest, Deep Forest and the Swamp

SIDE JOBS
  • The Hero can now choose to do side jobs at the Tavern, this new mechanic doesn't need to be unlocked via the skill tree.
    Two sets of each addiction were added, totalizing 12 girls. Sets vary between 8 and 10 images, which are update as the Hero's Lust increases.
  • Players have the option to "Resist" or "Seduce", each action modifies the client's and the player's lust, amount of gold tipped and Addiction gain. The main variables in the formulas are the Hero's VIT and client's Lust
  • The goal of a session if to bring the client's Lust above it's threshold, which raises with each passing day. If the Hero's Lust and client reach it's maximum at the same turn, the player will be punished.
  • Players will find it easy to earn small tips during the first few days with little investment, but if they want to keep the Tavern as a source of income, investing in VIT and knowing which action to take is necessary.

*Previously, heroes that survived for several days received a penalty based on the number of days survived, this mechanic discourages comebacks and punished players who keep playing after the run's peak had passed.

From now on, Fame points received from defeating enemies will decrease linearly as days go by, but Fame already earned in previous days will not be touched.

With this change, you can expect an overall increase in Fame gain, especially in long runs.

  • When starting a new run, you can choose to start in the Forest, Plains or random.
  • After choosing the starting area, you can still buy the alternate area map from the shop.
  • As it is an area currently under development, the Plains has new enemies while also borrowing some girls from the Forest.
  • There are no bosses in the Plains yet.
  • A new area selection screen has been implemented both when exploring and purchasing new maps from the shop.

Bad Endings now require less corruption to trigger, however the weight of CON in this new formula is slightly higher.
This change along with the increased base corruption resistance should allow heroes to continue playing with a bit of corruption as long as they can keep it in check by increasing their CON stat.
In summary this should allow "lost runs" to end sooner while still being able to recover from a bad/unlucky encounter in a good run.
BE coding have also been optimized to allow for better interactions with possible traits or equipments in the future.

After two encounters in a single day, the hero has access to a guaranteed potion.
Previously it was possible to find a second potion right after one more encounter. Now the alchemy lab will only appear after two encounters, whether you already discovered an alchemy lab on that day or not.

  • Players now have the option to open the backpack during an encounter
  • Orange, Pink and Green potions were added, these new potions fully restore hp, lust, and stamina, respectively.
  • A new screen has been implemented that shows all consumables owned by the hero.
  • When buying the backpack in Janna's shop the player will receive the three new potions for free, so be sure to use them when needed.
  • You can buy new potions in this same shop, their initial price is minimal, but increases with each transaction.
  • Clothes can also be equipped during an encounter.

PERSONALITY TRAITS REWORK
  • Personality traits can now be unlocked mid-run
Whenever your hero develops a new trait, whether positive or negative, it will be unlocked in the initial trait pool, meaning that you will be able to select it on the character creation.

Too specific traits like "Lexi's Cum Cow" and Caroline's hypnotize move are exceptions. Traits acquired this way will not be added to the character creation.
  • Trait selection rework
Player no longer needs to select three negative traits and one positive trait.
From now on, every trait has a value attached to it, and you need to reach a minimum sum to be able to start the game

Impactful traits have a higher value, while niche traits are lower. These values can be tweaked over time.

You can have as many positive traits as you want, as long as you select enough negative traits to balance it out.
  • Better UI and coding
Status screen and traits screen have been modified to display more traits. You can also press the new "Reset" button to start over.

The Random button will check how many traits have already been selected by the player (if any) and randomly select the remaining traits in a way that (hopefully) doesn't leave the player at a disadvantage.
E.g: The player needs 4 points to start, the game will select a 3-cost trait and, if available, randomly select a 1-cost trait.
The more traits the player unlocks, the better the functionality of the Random button.
There is also the possibility for the game to select 2 or 0 positive traits, but these cases are rare.


NEW QUICK TIME EVENTS
  • Two new debuffs, "Distracted" and "Overwhelmed" were added
This debuffs are similar to the "Confusion" debuff. While Confusion is related to CON attribute, Distracted is related to INT and Overwhelmed to VIT

Their difficulty varies according to the player's current Lust (for Distracted and Confused) and HP (Overwhelmed). However, having a high attribute makes things easier, even if the player's lust/HP is critical.
If the quick-time event is too hard, your current lust is too high, or the related attribute is too low.

You can check the effectiveness of an attribute during the quick-time event. If it's below 50% you're probably falling behind.
Attribute efficiency drops as the days go by

"Overwhelmed" requires button mashing. You can toggle between mouse click or space bar in game options

THE TOWER
  • Visiting the tavern after having at least 800 fame will unlock access to the tower, the endgame of Hero Corruption 2.
  • There are several ways to customize the tower and more will be added in the future, you can make the challenge easier or harder. The amount of fame received will be proportional to the difficulty.
  • Once the tower challenge has been accepted, there's no going back, your hero will keep going forward until defeated. Make sure to bring a few extra potions and another set of clothes with you.
  • Some girls aren't able to break the hero's will on their own, but they can kick you out of her floor. Get kicked twice and your hero will get lost in the tower forever.
  • New achievements have been added for those who prove themselves worth it.
  • There are also rumors that if a hero gets lost in the Tower after a certain point, they may find a somewhat peaceful ending.

IMPROVED HIGHSCORES
  • Heroes can now be recognized by their fame and/or by how far they managed to get in the tower
  • In addition to saving your hero's name and score, you can also keep track of who you were defeated by and the IRL date.

QUEST SYSTEM

Queen
  • You can now visit the Queen at the Central Square inside the City.
  • Three quests will be available daily, each one with a different difficulty and reward.
  • Once a quest has been chosen, you can't choose another one until the current one is completed or you give up on it.
  • Giving up on the current quest costs one Favor, free if you don't have any, but you'll have to come back the next day for the new quest rotation.
  • You can check you current check progression at the Status screen.
  • Refining quests are available once the player has the appropriate perk.
Favor
  • When completing a quest, your hero will be awarded with the new currency, Favor. The amount varies depending on the quest difficulty.
  • Favors can be redeemed with the Queen, she has a limited supply of items that rotates and renew every seven days. These items include new and unique buffs.

REWORKED SHOP UI
  • You can now buy and sell materials at the same time, the game takes into consideration the amount of materials in the hero's possession to calculate the total value of the transaction.
  • This new shop was implemented in both, the Blacksmith and Janna.
  • Gold and material icons were added.

REWORKED CHARMED DEBUFF
  • Charmed debuff was too similar to Aroused, so it got reworked.
  • Charmed is now stackable from 1 to 10, each new stack decrease Addiction Checks by 10%.
  • This means that if you have Charmed 10, all addiction checks will be set to 1.
  • Rei, Charlotte, Gabby and Liz were tweaked to accomodate the rework.

Checked it out, great game!

The downsides I can currently point out:
The info about your currently owned materials better be in the backpack as well.
In HC1 there was some info about the best time in the day when you can meet a certain enemy, it's a fine feature

The game is so good! I have found 0 bugs first few days. I did want android to maybe be vertical or larger pictures. A lot has changed.

You can already check materials owned in the backpack from version 0.15 onwards, this is indeed really important and a huge QoL upgrade.

You can see the girls' increased spawn times in the Enemies tab during a run or in the Gallery on the Main Menu, but I'll admit it's pretty easy for that info to go unnoticed.

To tell you the truth, Enemy Profile's entire screen is still far from ideal. :-/

Great ! I am doing my best to release the patches completely bug free, as this is a downloadable file and changes cannot be made so easily.

Actually, I was working on a better HUD for Android just yesterday, the buttons should be on both sides of the screen, much closer to the fingers and also bigger.
I don't believe I'll be able to finish it for v0.20, but it's currently in the works.

They're shemales, so probably aren't spawning in your game
This is actually a slip on my part, their achievements shouldn't appear at all, I'll see if I can get it fixed for the next version

The concept kills the fun, rogue like works only if you have a very complex game, at the third time I had to re-start and do the same attack --> wait --> attack --> wait --> attack --> win multiple times I decided to drop it

My intention is to make HC2 have longer and less punishing runs, so the day limit has been removed, you are free to explore the game at your own pace.

There is no "Retire” option for now, so the quickest way is to choose "Submit" when a Bad Ending is about to be triggered. Corruption no longer decrease the Final Score, so there is no downside to this.

Persistent data seems to be working fine when ported to new versions, so it shouldn't be a problem. Although I don’t recommend farming for the next versions in advance.

Hey, thanks for the HC2. I see you're using Ren'Py, correct? Should make the work easier, once you set up the combat mechanics.

Thanks for the resurring words, cristovao! I really needed that.

I loved the "Old Forest" idea. I have the feeling that some of the girls brought over from HC1 are a little out of place in HC2.
When the main structure of the game is completed, I'll probably run a poll and add all the top rated HC1 girls in these special areas as an easter egg.

As for Itch, I'm not sure, but apparently the website keeps the save data if you replace the uploaded file with another one with the exact same name.

I just discovered this game and i'm loving it! Looking forward for updates, maybe longer dialogue lines could be a thing for the future, if i can give a suggestion!
