Hello,

I want to reorganize my porn collection, erotic photos and more... I have actually and literally one file called boring stuff and there are some more files with names like: summer 2018, oct 2019, februar to april 2020, around halloween 2021... snd every of that files have 20 to 50 pics, films, etc... that is how I organized it and it is horrible. I have an approximate idea where I find what video, but I am often browsing and then watch something different than I wanted to at first. So how do you organize your stuff, maybe I can learn something.

I would do it around specific themes in it, starting with a broad master category then getting more granular. And if needed a video could end up in multiple categories

For example bdsm > femdom > cbt > ballbusting

This needs a little planning, but I would also allow it to develop organically over time as my collection grows or tastes change

Ok, I used the categories on pornhub and write down every topic that drawn my attention and then I found a way that fits my needs with lower and upper categories. More or less the upper categories describe what they are doing and the lower categories describes the woman.

Let's take an example: one file is called Threesome I put three other files in
- fff
- ffm
- fmm

and in the ffm are files like:

mother and daughter, bff, sisters, ...

the other files aren't enough films yet.

It is like it fits to me.

Here ist what I did:
2 big categories:
- professionals
- amateurs

professional files are:
- MILF (and then a file per label or pornstar)
- Teen (and then a file per label or pornstar)
- blowjobs and everything but not piv fucking

amateur files are:
- couples(and then a file per couple)
- girls(and then a file per girl)
- joi and tease and sfw

and a third file: pics, gifs and special interest

I do it in file folders by author. Not the greatest. I'd like to have a spreadsheet with categories, comments, and links to the files. If anyone has a template, I'd be interested.

I can completely and fully recommend Hydrus Network to anyone who has an offline collection of images and videos, or in our case, porn!

It's a powerful organizing tool that allows you to manage your collection by the most basic function of adding tags to your files. Compared to the windows file browser it is extremely fast. If you ever had a folder with like more than 100gb of high quality scenes you know what I'm talking about, it takes ages to load. Some notable features are fully customizable hotkeys for almost every shortcut, duplicate image processor, automatic tagging using folder names or file names.
I primarily use it for images and gifs, although I do have a separate database for scenes, so it definitely works for both.

For example I tagged my files with my fetishes, names of the girls and descriptors like what they're wearing, boob sizes, positions, and so on. If I'm in the mood for big chested girls on their knees with cum on their face, I can just search the tags up. Small tits instead? Sure thing. Three girls in bikinis on the beach or the swimming pool? Let's go. If your content consists of professional scenes you could tag them with studios, dates, pornstars, positions, whatever you want. Anything you would ever want to recognize a specific file by.

Now this is all work you first have to do yourself when starting out, especially if you already have a large collection. However for me it's kind of turned into a hobby where I tend to my collection and tag new files, think of new tags to add to old files and go over them again, or of course just plain old enjoying the fruits of my labor.

In my opinion the most important part is using tags to describe what you like about an image. At the lowest level I start with categories that everything falls into for example cum, tease and titfucking. And then sorting those further by using so called namespaces for example cum:facial - cum:on tits - cum:creampie.

And then more broadly I use tags for specific types of clothing (bikinis, underwear, shorts etc), particular bodyparts that elevate those pictures for me (midriff, great tits, hot faces etc).
You will think of more tags you want the longer you use hydrus and the work will never stop

After you used it a bit I also recommend setting up hotkeys for your most common tags. I found the numpad to be very useful for this since you get 15 keys and a nearby control modifier so 30 tags within reach of a single hand

I'm not quite sure what you mean by sub-tags but maybe parent-child tags are what you mean. If a child tag is used, a parent tag will be added automatically. Say I tag something with "crop top", then I set it so that "midriff" will also be added.

I noticed that I kind of gave a bad example for namespaces with "cum:xxx" because they are not related to the cum category I mentioned before that, I just made them related by using the same name. Namespaces just represent a category of tags. Useful for searching and filtering, for example "cum:*anything*" gives me all the files that have a cum namespace tag. If I then invert that search while also searching for "category:cum" (!cum:*anything* AND category:cum), I get all the cum files I haven't properly tagged yet and still need work on.

Now if you want to merge multiple tags you could sibling them. You set multiple tags you want to replace and then a single tag you want to replace them with. So everywhere you'd usually see "tankini" you'd now see "bikini" displayed. The "tankini" still exists, it just won't be shown to you that way. Depending on how fine you are with the thought of cluttered tags and what I call "legacy tags" you can just do it that way.
OR if it's something you know you'll never need again I'd just do a simple search and replace by searching for that tag, selecting all, and deleting the old tag and entering the new one.
It is noteworthy that it's currently not possible to simply rename a namespace, you'd have to do the search and replace one by one for every tag belonging to that namespace.
Bookmarking the search wouldn't be that useful since you'd have to add "bikini AND tankini" to every other search you'd want to include it in.

Adding them to namespaces would be useful If you see a place for having "swimwear:xxx" or "attire:xxx" tags. But not really if you want to get rid of the tankini tag because then you'd kind of mix them in with bikinis and could just as well replace them.


Regarding other problems I have solved, I'm just gonna list some of them:
‣ Easily getting rid of duplicates with the duplicacate filter that presents you similar images or sometimes even cropped versions, which you can then compare and keep the better one. Tags are automatically transfered and the other image deleted.
‣ While browsing the internet, I use an addon called "save as" that quickly lets me save an image in a list of predetermined folders. I then use those folders called like "tease" "cum" "non-nude" upon importing them to Hydrus to automatically tag the files according to the folder names. This way I always have my pictures immediately categorized which saves some of the work.
‣ Sometimes I browse 4chan /s/ or /gif/ and if I see a nice thread I can paste the link into a download watcher that downloads them all and then periodically checks the thread for new images to download. I then use the archive/delete filter that quickly goes through all the images and decide which ones to keep or to delete with a single button press.
‣ Here's the biggest one by far: For my anime collection I used to save images on reddit while browsing, then copy the link to https://saucenao.com/ to find the original source, then download them ideally from pixiv, and then tag them with like character, series, etc. And this is quite the work if you have lots of images to go through. In comes the Hydrus Companion. This nifty browser addon can search on saucenao directly from the context menu, let me select multiple pixiv, twitter, booru etc tabs and import them into hydrus while fetching all the tags if there are any, saving a shit ton of work.

Oh one more thing before I finish this unexpectedly rather long post. If you're looking for inspiration or different ways to tag your pictures, I found this list to be quite useful. Despite it being for anime, most principles still apply for irl pictures.

All in all using Hydrus made me actually really enjoy my collection which in hindsight used to feel more like collecting just for the sake of collecting since I never really got to the enjoying part of freely browsing my whole collection. And there's this sort of satisfaction from scrolling through my pictures ordered from small to gigantic boobs right in front of me, that having them in folders just doesn't give me
