sexualizing celebrities

Post by Zerg »

Maby this is not the right place to ask this, but it is something that has been on my mind lately. How do you feel about sexualizing famous actors, streamers, athletes ect. Do you think there is anything wrong with it, or is there no harm done? Personally I don't mind if someone is fantasizing about a celebrity privately, but I am not sure how I feel about using them in teases or similar content.

I would love to hear some of your thoughts

I don't see an issue in general. People, that put themselves in the public eyes, know, that they might be fantasized over and that the images they but out there are visible all over the world. I don't even see an issue with such pictures being put into teases. It doesn't really matter, if people are masturbating over the picture in a tease or some magazine.
What I think is not ok, is, if pictures are used that have not been released to the public. Either leaked or stolen private pictures or pictures taken by paparazzi in an intrusive way. Everyone has the right to have their privacy protected and to control, what they put out into the public.
The other thing that is not ok is, you should not use those pictures in a demeaning way, e.g. do not insult the for their looks etc. That isn't something that usually happens in teases, but of course something that often happens in the internet, where certain pictures might be used for hateful comments.

This is pretty much my opinion as well. Especially celebrities who use their sex appeal and post revealing/sexy photos of themselves, they make a lot of money from us sexualising them. Having their phones hacked and nudes leaked though is something that isn't cool. However, that being said, I enjoyed a lot of photos from the Fappening...

Yes leaked nudes are for sure a probllem, i agree with that.

How do you feel about making teases with celebrities that dont put out any sexual content? like for example a female volleyball player

This is an interesting question and since I feel quite the opposite direction as the previous posts I thought I put it in here also:

In my eyes pornstars and all in the adult business mostly create some kind of fantasy personality around them that is quite different from their private personality. Kind of hard to describe but I hope you know what I mean. Using this fantasy personality to masturbate to is totally fine.
General celebrities like actors or models are mostly themselves. So masturbating to them feels - at least for me - more like abusing them. For me it just not feels right :-).
Seeing all the fanfictions out there I guess I'm really a minority with my thoughts, but nonetheless I hope that this might help you :-).

I agree with this take as well.

There is another angle though. I remember reading some article a couple of years ago that "promised" realistic and high-quality deepfake videos in the near future. It seems like the technology is not there yet, but it makes me curious about the future of the porn industry and its potential connection to celebrities/athletes/influencers. I can see a world in which famous females with pretty faces opt-in "borrowing" their face to the deepfake producers for some sort of financial compensation/royalty. If you look at it as a retirement plan, they can have their faces scanned in their 20s/30s/40s and then let the porn industry have its way with it once they turn 50. There is a lot of moral flexibility where big money is involved

I would believe most actors and models do that as well. But if you do not like it, you don't have to do it. Personally, I think it is fine to fantasize about anyone, even about people that are not in the public like your neighbor. It is just harassment to pull them into your fantasy without consent, that is let them know in any way. (Well you can let someone know in the right context, you think, they're hot if course).

Yes, exactly. And that's exactly why I don't do it.
The more interesting point is inside the brackets: For me a public available tease is absolutely not the right context in my eyes.

Sure, you should not put your neighbor in a tease, obviously. For a celebrity using publicly released images, I see that differently. That's not a personal message to them, it is just a usage of the content they produce for public consumption. (copyright issues aside, but these exist with almost all of the teases).
