Absolutely top-notch, I can‘t believe that this is your first time! Congratulations, really spectacular (only tried the softcore version)! I am always extremely happy about good softcore CH, because they are so rare. Hope you will maybe do another one in the future
The only aspect I didn’t like 100% was the TV effect, which was maybe a bit overdone, although I think the idea itself is pretty creative. Otherwise, this was the most consistent softcore project since Soft Climax 2. It actually reminded me of Soft Climax 2, while still feeling original and very fun. Round 2 was my favorite, really like this beach settings (I wish someone would create a successor to French Riviera hehe, which is still my all time favorite for softcore
) and liked the atmosphere in general, with the consistent color scheme and the songs which were also a bit on the soft side, but worked very well. All in all, definitely 10/10
Just have some questions, maybe you have time to teach some of your experiences?
Did you use the beatmeter generator or another tool? And how is your work process, like do you start with searching for music and then building the video and a theme around the music or do you do it the other way round? And how do you search for music, because I imagine it being so difficult to find fitting songs (did you use Spotify?)? Finally, do you have any estimate of how much time you invested into this project (maybe Premiere has some project statistics)?
Hello! thank you for your feedback, happy that you liked it :). I definitely played Soft Climax 2 before and I really like it, and I agree, not too many high quality softcore CH videos out there, but there have been quite a few nice releases recently.
Regarding my current workflow (current because I changed it like a million times as I worked on each chapter and made mistakes), I do use Beatmeter Generator, it's a great tool, wouldn't have gotten far without it although at first it was weird to use. As for the songs, I used both Spotify and Youtube, or went for tracks I knew
The order in which I did things really changed from chapter to chapter, in some I picked the music first, in others it was the clips and then went to look for a suitable track.
If I had to do it again, I think my ideal workflow would be:
- Pick the overall theme and structure for the video. For example, do I want to implement a set of rules, how long do I want it to be and based on that think about where to place the breaks (if any). Do I need anything special for the finale? Like some sort of story telling that carries through different chapters, for example showing the same girl or something.
- Pick the music tracks to fit the desired duration and mood for each chapter
- Create the beat tracks in Beatmeter Generator
- Add the video for each chapter
- Add in effects or extra information like the beat patterns, text, countdowns, stuff like that
Throughout the creation of this one I neglected to do 1, and did 2-4 in random order for different chapters, getting to the above pattern by the final 4 or 5 chapters. I feel that not doing 1 was the cause of most of the reworked pieces.
Then some random things I found really useful:
- songbpm.com. Believe it or not I started this project without knowing what "BPM" was and it was hell, every single beat was always off, lol. Once I figured that out creating beats became a breeze.
- In premiere do each chapter in a nested sequence instead of having everything in the main timeline
- In Beatmeter Generator the first thing I do now is to create 3 tracks, in the first one I add simple BPM track for the whole song. In the other 2 I add one 2xBPM track and one 1/2xBPM track. That helps me a lot with beat changes for faster or slower sections.
- In Beatmeter Generator create a separate project per song. I learned that the hard way, I created the beat track for the first 5 songs in the same project and it became a pain to manage.
- As much as possible try to align scene changes with a beat
This is just what I could think of based on my experience, no idea if the same pattern or tips are used by other creators
And finally, as for time spent I really have no idea, but it was a ton of hours. I started this one in December I think working on it on the weekends and a couple of hours during the week, but spent several weeks away from home. I really don't know, but felt like a lot. I got faster as time went by and knew how to do stuff, now if I have a clear idea I could produce a chapter in like 2-4 days. Also depends on the kind of chapter, if it's something that requires tons of scene cuts, then that will take longer than something that's mixing a couple of videos with longer takes. Not a concrete answer but hope that helps, and definitely do try it out, even if you do just a couple of chapters to try it's really cool learning Premiere :) (if you don't already)
