Great, so I found some resistors, but now I can't locate any transformers lol. Can you recommend any transformers in similar fashion please? Sorry for all the questions, the smartstim site appears to be down right now.digitalparkinglot wrote: ↑Mon Aug 26, 2019 1:15 pm The only part about the resistors that is important is the 25W 3.9 Ohm. As long as you find some with that spec (or very close) they will work fine. These come with aluminum housing to disperse heat. I personally have never found that they get the least bit warm, even after hours of use. The build instruction talk about mounting everything to a metal plate for additional heat dispersion, but I don't find that to be necessary. I kind of cobbled everything together to test it to make sure it worked. It worked so well that I stacked the transformers and resistors on top of the amp and wrapped a bunch of electrical tape around everything to secure it and have been going like that for a couple years.

This transformer is supposed to be a good one and I think I read somewhere that this is the one that was easier to find in Europe.

The important part about picking the transformers is that they be 70V and 10W (or close to that).

Re: [RELEASE] E-Stim Fantasy
I'll go one up on that and post all of the components I picked up:
Could you please post a link to the banana plugs and connectors you are using?
Amp (The one recommended by just about everyone for this kind of setup)
https://www.amazon.com/SMSL-SA-36A-TPA3 ... way&sr=8-3
Resistors
https://www.amazon.com/Aluminum-Purple- ... 141&sr=8-3
Transformers - More than meets the eye!
https://www.amazon.com/Speco-T7010-Tran ... 139&sr=8-1
Project Box (Plenty big for the whole thing)
https://www.amazon.com/BUD-Industries-C ... way&sr=8-1
Banana plugs/jacks (I can't recommend these - They're cheap and you get what you pay for. I have had to bend out the plugs to get any friction in the jacks. Also, the set screws were too short for setting any of the wiring I was using so I had to solder them despite the 'solder-less' design. The jacks are actually pretty nice for installation with plastic holders on both sides of the box for holding the black and red together.)

Very much appreciated, but I cannot find those damn transformers anywhere in Europe!BoundSquirrel wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2019 4:50 amI'll go one up on that and post all of the components I picked up:

Hey thanks a lot my friend. I am over in Austria but we have Conrad too. Would you mind having a quick look at this link and telling me if you think this particular transformer will work?Boszie wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2019 12:52 pm hey blondie,

Your model:
The transformer has the same power as what digitalparkinglot said, so this is good. The transformer can generate a higher voltage (100 volt instead of 70 volt), so I wonder if this can cause fried balls.Leistung (Power): 10 W

Anyone with more knowledge than me on the subject care to advise if fried balls would be the outcome?

Hey blondie88,
I'm afraid I don't know the answer to that. I'm not electrically savvy, I just followed the specs when I built mine, so I don't know where or how much you can deviate before frying your balls

Re: [RELEASE] E-Stim Fantasy
First of all the 100 V transformer is the standard most places, outside North America. It is used in many stim designs.
If you are concerned you can remember that the power is what is needed, not just the voltage.
If you want to take precautions, then:
Don't turn the amplifier up beyond the level of pain. (Turn it down or add "Electrogel" conductive lube when you feel a sharp localized stinging.)
Use a properly sized amplifier with a true rating of 15 watts or less and for some of us 5 watts is enough (I use an 18 watt amp per channel). This will depend on your input and output circuitry too.
Install a series resister between the amp output and the transformer along with a series resister between the transformer and your trode. Look at the drawings here.
https://mega.nz/#F!wBsFVKaK!HQqojgl6Fps0QMBeVfg4Vg
These resisters will give you piece of mind and also a much smoother feel during the actual event of stimming.
I have never heard of anyone having their balls catch fire. The worst injuries I have read about are small, localized, topical burns or blisters on the skin that take around 2 to 4 weeks to disappear. These would be where the trodes are touching your skin.
If you connect directly to an amplifier without a transformer you could potentially cause yourself much more damage.
Don't stim when you are impaired with alcohol or drugs.
Don't let your ex-wifey, who hates you, tie you up and operate the stim level controls.
Just use good judgement!

I'm casually interested in this, but last night I signed up for the estim website linked earlier in the thread (forum isn't viewable without an account) and I still haven't received a confirmation email. Is the thread mirrored anywhere that doesn't have a login wall?

Re: [RELEASE] E-Stim Fantasy
I like the concept of added resistors at the input of 'big' transformers, hosenguy. Also thanks for sharing your knowledge about possible injuries. All good info to know.
4 weeks recovery is a serious injury. Take note of the ex-wife advice.

Re: [RELEASE] E-Stim Fantasy
These power grid transformers are not a good choice because they are intended for low frequencies, not the frequencies which we need in estim files.
Low frequencies should be avoided as much as possible. Especially very low frequencies can cause electrolysis which results in denaturation of proteins. DC currents are extremely dangerous.
A while ago a found a guideline (some medical stuff) which currents at which frequencies can be considered as save. Unfortunately I did not bookmarked it. But as higher the frequencies as higher the permissible current.
In practice we want frequencies between 500 Hz and 1000 Hz (frequencies of the carrier signal. Frequencies of the modulation signal does not matter). And that's not what these power transformers are designed for.
If you are from EU you can purchase these ones from Reichelt. Digikey has similar parts. They are totally sufficient and you even can add a series resistor (10 to 20 Ohm) for safety.
I strongly recommend to add a high pass filter because we want no frequencies lower than 500 Hz, see this post for dimensioning. Capacitors can be purchased from Reichelt.
Aim of the transformer is to make the the output signal current controlled, i.e. output impedance is higher than the load resistance. High voltages only occur if the contact resistance is to small. I that case high current densities occur (that hurts). Thats why contact resistance should be as low as possible and larger electrodes feel better then smaller ones.
For maximum safety you can add a TVS diode in parallel to the amplifier output. A bidirectional 15 V diode should be chosen for 12V amplifier (Reichelt)

I haven't been able to log in for over a week now, which is a little frustrating as it means i can no longer get access to the build instructions. Can anyone else confirm that the site is down? Even better, could someone please post the build guide?Pudknocker wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2019 3:57 pm I'm casually interested in this, but last night I signed up for the estim website linked earlier in the thread (forum isn't viewable without an account) and I still haven't received a confirmation email. Do you use rubber loops or sticky pads DPL? Which do you prefer?digitalparkinglot wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2019 9:29 pm Different trode configurations all seem to work well, but my favorite is L+ to the head of the cock, R+ to the base of the cock, and both neutrals on a monopole or bipole trode to the prostate. This configuration gives a fantastic stroking sensation.
