I suspect the issue is https://bugs.python.org/issue43975. If you're willing, can you confirm if this is the case regarding Windows registry:
And for some reason, at least on my machine, HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.js\Content Type was 'text/plain'. Changing it to 'application/javascript' fixed my issue

Weird problem, but that fixed it. It's been a while since I've had to regedit :-D Thanks for the tech-support!
Everything seems to be working now. I look forward to playing around with it later!

Alright, this is absolutely incredible. First user friendly tool of its kind. I feel ungrateful asking, but is there any way we can get the toggle for captions to also work for videos? I am also having an issue where it is only censoring the picture on the left and not the right, do you know what could cause that?

Thanks! Those are bugs I've missed, woops! I've fixed those issues and uploaded a new version (updated first post too): https://mega.nz/file/xZUh2YDZ#4WbpGsEuK ... fUUpbceVUQ

First off, amazing software. Fantastic fun!

I am running into an issue as of today or yesterday perhaps where the gallery downloading (from URL sources) seems to hang forever. I don't think this is necessarily on your end as this was working fine just a few days ago. Wondering if I tweaked something or if some unrelated issues are causing problems like a windows update, firewall etc. Curious if anyone else is running into this. Happening on both versions 1.1.0 and 1.1.1 for me.

Thanks!

Thanks, glad you're enjoying it. Are there any errors in the console that could indicate the problem?
If not, I suspect the gallery-dl.exe that is used to download URLs may be blocked by some anti-virus.

Check the bin directory next to the beta.exe file and verify if gallery-dl.exe exists or has been removed automatically.
Try downloading gallery-dl https://github.com/mikf/gallery-dl/releases and manually place it in the bin directory next to beta.exe.

Doesn't look to be anything wrong with the .exes. Windows is at least somewhat vocal about what its doing to them. Before, when running this there would be a folder in temp/dl that had the fetched images, doesn't look like the images are being downloaded anymore. Grabbed some output

It seems to hang on line 12/13 after retaining the image links. The browser will just show "Resolving so and so url" forever. I was able to get it give me an error when reloading the browser window which starts at line 13/14, but that kinda looks like an "already in progress" type error and nothing about the gallery download. Hope that is useful! Thanks for taking a look.

Thanks that is useful; the issue is almost certainly https://github.com/mikf/gallery-dl/issues/1632
So if the subreddit contains a post from redgifs, it will error - I don't have a workaround currently unfortunately.

I wanted to edit the captions and it seems like 1.1.1 does not generate a grammar.fcfg file. Copying an old one from a past version into the data file does not allow editing captions. Any ideas what this could be? Has anyone else noticed this issue?

Getting errors whenever I try to use the 1.1.1 version. I launch the exe, it opens the cmd fine and the IP address page loads up fine too with the grey screen telling me to click anywhere to open settings.
But when I click anywhere nothing happened and a bunch of error messages show up in the cmd prompt. Something related to a variable being " undefined ".

Any idea why?

I've seen this when mixing version files incorrectly, you may want to start with a fresh download in a different directory. Otherwise I'd check to make sure your antivirus isn't blocking any of the files--it seems that due to the weird way it works as an .exe, some anti virus software gets upset and selectively blocks or quarantines individual files.

You can create a config.ini file under the data folder with the following content:

Code: Select all

[CONFIG]
grammar_fcfg = "A:\\folder\\path\\Grammar.fcfg"

Hello again, thank you for the reply. However, this pops an error when run:
"ValueError: Could not determine format for file:///<path here> based on its file extension; use the "format" argument to specify the format explicitly"

All I find searching this is a github for DateJS and I'm unsure what the syntax I need to use to resolve this is. Very grateful if you'd be able to assist again :)

edit: Workaround for now of making the config.ini just have
[CONFIG]
grammar_fcfg = Grammar.fcfg

And then putting a different Grammar.fcfg file from an old version into the directory with the .exe
