Yes, poppers feel great but as others have mentioned you can get a sever case of maculopathy even after your first session. There is no cure but time and glaces/treatment won't do anything for you. It appended to me a while back. At the beginning I could barely look at at a computer screen at minimum brightness. Six month later I still couldn't clearly identify facial expressions of people 50 feet away and I needed to ware shades when it was sunny. Today my sight has improved but I am not sure it's 100% back…

For those interested there is a 500+ posts long thread on this topic with plenty of similar stories here : http://poppersguide.com/forum/10213.

Holy shit! Almost all the recent posts on poppersguide are about eye problems associated with popper use. Yet, I haven’t heard much about this on Milovana or the poppers Reddit site. I’ve only used Double Scorpio “Farm to Disco” isobutyl nitrate poppers. This company stresses product quality and purity. So far I have experienced no Ill side effects, except for being a bit winded after video popper session. Do you suppose:
1. That these reports are from a minority of users who have had bad experiences and thus want to warn others?
2. The ill effects are the results of using isopropyl nitrate or poor quality products?
3. That binge or overuse caused the problems?
I’m puzzled.
Anyone else care to comment?

I think this is alot due to people on reddit being more from US, and milovana has mixed population, probably not many people from EU here use poppers.

There are several types of -nitrites, all have in common that they have ONO (Oxygen, Nitrogen, Oxygen) in their mollecule, and the remainder is mostly "delivery mechanism" - a liquid that easily evaporates so the nitrite can be inhaled. They are mostly derived from alcohols (therefore similar names). Nitrite effects are the same, but this delivery mechanism is ideally something that quickly decomposes in body and causes no side effects. Hard to tell if such delivery mechanism exists.

The discovery of nitrites was done in 19th century, I think 1844, the guy is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antoine_J ... 4me_Balard

He passed nitrogen through amyl alcohol (isopentyl I guess?) and got first poppers ever.

20 years later they started using the chemical to treat angina (instead of bleeding and bloodsucking worms that were used up to that point).

Here is more detailed history: https://www.chemistryworld.com/news/exp ... 95.article

Today, there are 4 main types of popper nitrates you should know about:
  • (iso)butyl- (available in US, banned in EU since 2007 because there was a correlation with cancer). Should now be available again in UK since the ban stayed in EU :)
  • isopropyl- (available in EU, because manufacturers switched to propyl alcohol once butyl was banned in 2007) It is not available in US because it is linked to maculopathy (loss of eyesight).
  • amyl-, also called isoamyl and isopentyl - this was to my knowledge the content of original "popers" that were available in pharmacies (over the counter) until 1970-ies, they were in glass capsules that "pop" when broken to release the nitrites that you could inhale (it was OTC medication to treat angina pectoris, and they are source of "poppers" term)
  • pentyl- it has same atoms in molecule as amyl- version but it is different shape, I am not sure what is it known for, seems to be the least famous
There is also hexyl- version which seems to be available in some jurisdictions but is not very common.

Also note that there is chemical distinction between "butyl-" and "isobutyl-" - the shape of mollecule is a bit different, but I think same regulation applies to both. It is similar to difference between "pentyl-" and "amyl-" (which is isopentyl-) - same atoms in mollecule, but linked a bit differently.

For more details check here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poppers#Chemistry

I have tried isopropyl, pentyl and amyl versions, of which propyl is available in EU, and amyl/pently are legal in France so you can order them from there. From first (and only) usage of isopropyl-nitrates (yellow rush) I experienced a yellow-ish circle in center of my vision that was dark in middle, first I thought it was part of numberonefan's video but I realized it goes with center of my sight wherever I look at and it scared me out of my stim session. After some research I found out about all of the above versions of poppers and was using amyl and pentyl since. Amyl was mostly good stuff, pentyl, I am not sure if it was due to not having enough break since last time, but rush was weaker.

Also, bear in mind these products, although amyl-nitrate is supposedly same pharmaceutical substance from 50 years ago, are not regulated, they are sold as leather or vhs cleaners, and might not be pure. The danger is in precisely that, since they are "unregulated", it would be better if the exact substance is still available in pharmacies, and you have brands that stand behind them, so it is worth investing money for them into good equipment to produce pure stuff. Since these are produced by small/unknown labs, what you buy might not be same between 2 batches of same brand, and they all have some added aroma for smell (to make some distinction between brands, many of which might be produced in same laboratory).

As example, I had 3 bottles of identical brand ('Gold Rush') of amyl from France, and one of those 3 bottles (the first amyl I ever opened) had awful smell. I did not know it is bad since it was my first amyl ever, and the rush worked, but my wife got awful headache when trying it, that lasted for several days. When I opened second bottle, I noticed the smell was much more pleasant, almost "fresh", and the bottle had 2 pellets, which weren't present in bad bottle. Those pellets are just a desiccant that absorbs any moisture (that gets into bottle whenever you open it), so it slows degradation. So, one of 3 bottles that were sold as a "pack of 3" was bad.

I heard that producing your own is the safest option, but of course not everyone lives in rural US where that (and many other things I wanna do) would be possible.

I've been using Poppers for about 18 months. I would say I average once every two weeks and each session maybe 20 or so hits. I believe I'm using Amyl or Butyl. I try not to buy them from retail outlets because you don't know what's in them.

You'll never know the denominator for these self reported cases. You also don't know how old the users are and how much they use. I believe my eyesight has deteriorated over these last 18 months but there's a lot of other factors that could account for that. I usually feel tension around my eyes and things "feel" more blurry the next day.

Most commonly the next day I feel crummy. Usually a cough and low energy and reflux.

I inhale through a jar and it delivers a pretty good hit. I've tried breathing through the mouth once and it just burned my tough and throat and it was not pleasurable. I'm currently trying to take a break as my last session felt awful. It felt like my throat was closed up and I couldn't catch my breath. I'm hoping that a long break will calm things down and make my body sensitive to it again.

Yep. If it's a big session, I've found it harder than usual to wake up in the AM and I'm generally lethargic most of the day. If I've had a couple sessions to close together, I get a persistent cough as well that takes 3-4 days to subside.

It's "killing off" oxygen transport, so the low-energy issues are not surprising. It's a caustic fluid, which means enough vapor will be caustic too - which is the irritation to sinuses, mouth, and throat.

The sock or rag method - it delivers a pretty fat and heavy hit - but it's a sure fire way for me to develop a cough and a lot of irritation. I use a pint sized Ball jar, no cotton or paper towels since those often have been bleached or another chemical treatment in processing, just pour a little liquid in and seal the top, crack it open for a sniff.

I recently tried VHCleaner out of Chicago -Video Head Cleaner - and they have 2 versions. The 100 was OK, the bottle didn't last too long, and all their stuff has a ton of dessicant balls. 200 was better and the bottle stored well, however something about this brand was more irritating to my nose, almost like it left a fine film? Might be from the "other ingredients". Effects were great, similar to my old reliable JJ Platinum.

Double Scorpio gives me a brutal headache or significant day-after effects. I tried Emerald, Gold, Original, and a couple of the "seasonal" options over the past 2 years. At first the Emerald was reliable and low side effects, but after a year of use every other week or so, all their stuff gives me trouble.

Ordered Amyl (brand) from a French supplier - the yellow gas mask logo as well as the 30ml blue bottle, Everest blue bottles too. I don't like the big wide top bottles, and the caps aren't odor-proof, the package itself stunk. I found the Amyl brand a bit weak, lacking the big up-front "drop", and there weren't any dessicant balls in the French-ordered bottles.

On a break for a while, with the shift to Spring, I'm not getting much free time anyway - might try the French options again after a couple months off.

Interesting comments and observations, hypnostim and throwawayacct.

So far, I have had good luck with the Super Sniffer DP ( thesupersniffer.com) popper cap. The cap is well designed and sturdy, has dual ports, and a open-close release button. There's a hole for a lanyard, and I find that extremely handy (always in the same place) and safe (no spillage).
There are caps available for a number of different sized bottle tops. I suppose you could refill a bottle, if necessary.
It's a little pricey, but for me it's been a good investment.
Does anyone else use super sniffers, and if so, what are your experiences?
As far as popper side effects, I haven't had any significant ones, other than being a bit out of breath after a session.
I did feel a bit nauseous and faint after my first hit from a fresh bottle of Double Scorpio Emerald, so I plan to take it easy when using a new bottle. So far I have been happy with Double Scorpio with respect to experience, quality, and ease of ordering. K

I typically will have 3 different sized mason jars up to 500mL of different poppers. I will omit the cotton ball next time if you think it may be bad and there's not much chance of spillage anyway.

I think the brown bottle from Mr. S. (butyl) has been the most consistent. I think I got the best dose from a Double Scorpio but it was a one time thing. The Amyls (Everest premium and titanium) are more subtle and warm but my first experience with Amyl Titanium (gas mask) smelled quite sharp and didn't do much for me. In general the Amyls seem to have fewer side effects but my last experience with Everest Premium (probably old) made it hard for me to breath, thus leading to this break. I agree that the Amyl ones have an off putting smell.

Update 06/29/23: r/opperPigs is back online as of a few weeks ago.
There aren't a whole lot of online popper forums, at least to my knowledge. One of my go-to forums on Reddit (r/PopperPigs) was recently shut down. A lot of useful info and resources sthat were posted there are no longer available.
A replacement / reboot has been added to Reddit called r/PopperPigsReboot. It's a start-from-scratch effort by some of the former members and free to join. Check it out! Hopefully it will become a good information exchange site.
Another forum mentioned in a past post on this thread is poppersguide.com (lots of good info and posts). And there's Reddit's r/PopperPussies for those into popper vids.
I've learned a lot from these forums, what to try, what to avoid, where and how to get a variety of poppers not available locally, etc.
Just thought I'd share this info for those wanting to learn more or share their experiences. K

i love it too I hooked up with a good cock hero and my cock enjoys it so much. Whenever I'm rand I use poppers and can enjoy so many dry orgasms. It's like a sex drug. I often use ants to sting my glans beforehand. Then my glans itches so much and I can feel the current even better and finer. This is how I have the best orgasms of my life.
