I think the easiest place to start is with a Cock Hero artist page...

I'm planning to jump in with the original CH series... I noticed a lalaland page is already begun...

Well, I finally got started, with lalaland's first two CH's, and already I have picky librarian questions.

I want to indicate that the original video links in these webteases are broken, but the videos are still up on torrents and file shares. Of course, this is a ubiquitous issue and should not be redundantly mentioned on every page, but since lalaland's are the very first, I feel like there is something special about pointing this out on this particular page and providing at least a general link toward finding the files. I provided links to a torrent and a couple of forum threads that serve as indexes, but it already feels like I'm overdoing it. On the other hand, it is a shame to "throw away" a specific link to these files when I actually have it, rather than referring people to all-purpose torrent/download pages where they have to search for specific videos from scratch. On the other-other hand, any of these links can stop working at any time, so how much am I really helping by including the ones that are working now?

Ideas??

This is going to dovetail with linking to funscripts and e-stim files, which will be less milovana-centric.

I provided links to a torrent and a couple of forum threads that serve as indexes, but it already feels like I'm overdoing it. I haven't started to write a formal content policy yet but maybe this can be the first rule:

No direct links to PMV media or torrents of this media.

There are a few reasons this is a good idea:

PMV Wiki remains super clean. Nobody can claim copyright infringement.

A wiki is sub-optimal to solve the distribution problem anyway. As you point out, links die. Also a majority of PMVs that exist currently cannot be linked to at all. Finally, there are other ongoing efforts which will contribute towards the discovery and cataloging of PMVs. (hint)

I've gone ahead and removed the reference that links to a torrent file on milovana and made some other minor corrections.

I've never contributed to a public wiki before, so I was pleasantly surprised to see your detailed comments in changes on the lalaland wiki page. I am glad to have such granular direction, and it looks like these little conversations can migrate over there. Thanks again!

All pages on the wiki have a "Discussion" page which is intended for stuff like this. I haven't used one yet. Feel free to experiment. This thread is fine too.

The main reason I haven't used the discussion threads is that I don't know if anyone will notice them unless they're in to visit that particular page. So I think they can be great for discussing those pages specifically, but probably not so great for general policy and style discussions. Unless we have some meta pages for discussion there, then a forum thread like this is probably the better option. Unless someone has a better solution or I've misunderstood something. :)

I wish someone (who has a LOT of free time ...) would take this kind of wiki and tagging technology and work out a suitable and COMPLETE set of data for all existing cock-hero style videos. I want "the cock-hero database" (yes, I know, there's one extant, and in development) to make it possible for me to find all scenes with (f.e.) Veronica Rodriguez that also have beat-meters, by time-stamp. Thus, I can use the cock-hero-generator-player tool (also in development) to draw those scenes from my stockpile of cock-hero videos, and play scene after scene with that one starlet. Or other similar cull-and-goon scenarios.

Several people have been working for some time now on developing "PMV Stash", essentially a database for PMVs including Cock Hero videos that can be scraped using Stash app. The users will be able to submit tags, and other metadata to the PMV Stash database. Users will also be able to have their stash app connect to the PMV Stash database and automatically detect and tag all their local Cock Hero and PMV videos. Most of this functionality already exists and is used by people for normal, commercial porn videos. But there are certain extra, technical requirements for creating such a database for PMVs.

The stash approach has two important advantages over previous attempts:
1. Information can be crowd-sourced. It won't be one person with too much free time but instead more like a wiki or even more like MusicBrainz where a community of people submit, review, and curate the metadata.
2. It can be used for automatic identification and tagging. This is a capability that already exists in stash and is completely beyond the scope of wiki software.

Eventually, I intend to have PMV Wiki rely heavily on PMV Stash for referencing information about PMV artists and their works.

Once the PMV Stash is ready to receive users and metadata contributions, I will certainly post about it here. In the meantime, if you are interested in PMV Stash and have any experience in programming in go, react, or system administration, please let me know and I'll point you to the right people.

Stash looks under-whelming. You can only tag with performer or studio? What about tagging little Julie before and after her breast augmentation? What about the blonde girls versus the brunettes? I'd like to find all Czech performers born between 1995 and 2002 who do deep-throat in scenes without anal that are point-of-view unless there's jerkoff-encouragement dirty talk ...

Not a programmer, not intending to ever get started in that. (I think I do have a "programmer-like" brain in the sense that I solve the problems before me mathematically rather than intuitively (if that's a fair dichotomy) and that I would prefer efficient and base-level solutions to be thought through rather than to allow weeds-level artifact culling to become the primary time-consumer of any project. Or maybe that's not a "programmer-like" brain, what would I know.) The question of becoming familiar with a programming language is, exactly, the reason I'm not one. I can guess, that the tags which Pornhub and Spankbang put in the scroll-bars of their videos, which indicate particular types of porn action (click here for the blowjob! click here for he missionary!) are AI-generated, and that makes sense to me, as does the concept of crowd-sourcing many of the tags. Some day we'll be able to link it all to a geo-tagging mapping software and go walk right to the red-light district window where we can fuck whichever synthe-girl looks like our preferred starlet. Is that a good thing?

Performers, studios, and release dates in stash are not tags but rather dedicated metadata. On top of that, stash also has tags, and you can create whatever tag you like or import them from a stash-box server (like in the future PMV Stash). Stash also has a powerful and simple to use search and filter system. So, assuming the metadata exists, Stash's current tag+search+filter system allows for queries similar to the one you used as an example.

That being said, I simply wished to share this information, that a PMV Stash database/server is in the works and it will be beneficial to the PMV Wiki effort. Beyond that, I'm reluctant to turn this thread into stash tech-support or stash vs <other thing> debate. Once PMV Stash is ready, people will be able to judge its usefulness on their own and such debates will be redundant.
