I never understand these "announcement" posts. What's the point of them?

I guess it varies from individual to individual. In my case it's exactly like I wrote in the first post, I use this as a way to put it out there and commit myself to a final push to wrap it up, otherwise I'll be redoing the same chapters over and over again until the end of time. For other people it may be purely to build hype, make conversation, find out what people would like to see, who knows.
