Yea that's the one I got, appreciate the responses.

edit: I lied lol.. I got the one from parts express but it has very similar specs.

also it has a 3 prong plug.. should i just remove the ground prong?

I have another power supply lying around that is 2 prong but is only 3a 36w... would that be any safer?

They are both double insulated, so both are safe to use. But I would use the more powerful one.
A power supply that is not running at 100% is less hot and more stable.

I can't really estimate how dangerous this topic is, because all power supplies for leds, laptops etc. where those small external ones are designed for, are 100% double insulated when you buy them in Germany.
I guess I have never seen one that isn't double insulated, but checking the signs is never bad.

I have build now both variants the origial one of the first post and the one with the 3,9k resistor between preamp output and transformer.
I noticed however, that some estim teases do not work at all on this device - EG. The estim experiment series of the user @boundupone - is there anybody who experienced the same issues?

cheers

Btw here some Pictures of my build. I added a fan controlled by a mosfet and thermistor. I noticed the ic of the pre amp gets very hot. Let me know what you think 😃

Estim Experiment v2 was "normalized" at something like -12db which is very low volume, accounting for differences in how various waveforms and frequencies operate, both of the estim experiment series will probably not be great on anything other than an ET312B unless you get the GuideMe version and use custom volume settings like some of us have done, then it works great. Estim bondage won't work well for a DIY device either, but most everything else works for me. There are a few sections of Estim Laboratory where there are low frequency audio which causes a bit of a sting, but if you use a graphical equalizer app and drop anything under about 150hz, the tease is great because the files where the frequency sweeps low, those brief parts are filtered out.

Hope this helps, there are plenty of things that work great, Estim Experience part 2 is better than the original(including v2) and Estim Chatroom is fully compatible and an improvement over Estim Laboratory. Not to mention tons of other teases, audio, and video that work great for your device. Explore and have fun. There isn't anything that will be exactly the same or fully compatible between all devices.

thanks for the response. Really appreceate. I noticed the stings in estim laboratory. I will keep experimenting . :-)

Just a short feedback - the fan works very well. It was now triggered after intensive use of the device of approximately 40mins. It started up and was able to cool down under the trigger point. Therefore it was able to keep the temperature stable at an acceptable point.

Your design looks cool, thanks for adding another example! :-)
I have also added a fan (but button triggered) after the device stopped working once because overheating.

But looks like adding holes in the case was more than enough, never needed to turn the fan on.

However, even if the holes are enough to avoid failing of the device, having the fan running once its quite hot would be advisable.
button triggered is a thing, you dont know when the device is hot and about to fail. After some testing I must say my thermistor triggered circuit works as good as it is simple!

Feel free to add the parts you need for that and how to build something like that. :-D

It is a very simple circuit
You need the following components:
- Mosfet e.g IRFZ44N ... (any n-canal normally open mosfet will do the job)
- Heat sink for mosfet (not absolutely necessary depending on the mosfet - should not get that hot)
- 10k thermistor
- 2kOhm potentiometer (multiturn is better for finetuning)
- 12VDC Fan

I post the circuit schematic below.
You can use the same 12V supply you are using for the preamp, just connect parallell to the preamp after the on off switch.
The thermistor should be placed somewhere near the heat sink not in the line of the air
The Mosfet instead should be placed in the line of airflow

if you chose a design line mine with intake on the side an outlet on the top the fan should suck in the air.

I stay available if somebody needs any help :-)

1x 12V power supply - 29,99€ (120W is maybe not needed, but can recommend this one)
For safety reasons make sure to pick one that is double insulated and has some good quality, don't buy cheap ones without any declaration about that!

Hello and first let me tell you I really appreciate your tutorial and thank you for that. I have a 2B myself I love it so much I can't even imagine how the real deal will feel and I'm willing to give it a try !
Please forgive me in advance I will have a lot of questions about the built due to my lack of experience and understanding of electronics and electricity.

1/Regarding the power supply the one you list on amazon do not have the double square depicted ... am I missing something ?
2/ My 2B comes equipped with proprietary cables for the output to the electrodes (1x3.5mm jack turns into 2x4mm, one red and one black) could you please maybe add to your list the right components to buy for the electrodes cables and connectors) ?

Looking forward to order all the parts !
