The us did link the first computers together that is certainly true, and it was created for weapons use and to allow communication between u.s military computers, in essence the internet.

however the internet or WWW that we all know and love today can be accredited by cern and the British engineer who wrote HTML, the first computer language and allowed the internet revolution, for the most part, to explode. clearly he has been rewarded with his recent knighting.

as for the internet being English well we can blow that idea well out the water, certainly it is true that English is common language on the internet, i fail to see how you can define some thing so universal and diverse with countless languages as being a particular nations language.

I identify WWW with the United States of America. They made it .and the language is english due to them.If the english dudes would have had their ways...all of us would have spoken in ethth...like wildsth, comentsth and listenintght .And ALL of us would bow down to some ,,Lord,,...and kiss his feet. And worship some Queen ..However,(thank GOD) the freedom of United States of America got rid of the non-sense of ,,wildst,,...and also of the ,,LORDS,and Queens, and cock-suckers.<, who need the feet kissing.Let the Lords from your parlament go to some gay sites ,I say....They look funny enough thinking they are,,LORDS,,..why not let them enjoy a healthy anal session from some mistress?

ps..I am not against gays..I used the words just to put some juice in my response.May I remind you that the english empire abandoned INDIA,when it could have had controll over it ,and make it part of England.However..besides the fact that english is part of INDIA...no progress I see there..still all time castes systems. The english failed this time with India, even so they succeded civilizing the New World (aka..United States of America...USA)

LOng live the WWW web I say...and we rule this time.

Unless you can control the minds of the people...all you could do is set-up rules which say..you are allowed to think and masturbate about, but you are not allowed to put it in practice..
Like the GTA3 game..I can room around and punch people just for fun..I can steal cars and get away with it.However,it is still in my mind. The rules are not for the mind, are for society,Binary...I'm not sure you understand me.

I think we have to distinguish between fantasies, and pornographic materials which display these fantasies.

People can still have their fantasies about corpse-screwing, they just can't have pictures of it.

corpse screwing.. thats just gross lol.

what i have to say now i say with the up most respect:

I'm sorry danny but i have to say you have a rather profoundly dull view of the world and this is purely my view and not of the team and site as a whole. But your rather unsophisticated intellect has depressed me and reinforced by own poor stereotypes of red kneck America and the far right of the U.S, now i know the majority of Americans are sensible good honest and intellectual people and capable of making an unbiased decision and capable of achieving great things, but your presence coupled with the rather racist remarks of the British way of life can only seek to have the desired outcome of angering the British population on this site, stirring racial hatred of other cultures and widening the already damaged gap between our two cultures.

It is for this reason that i abject to your views and ask you politely to stop preaching biased and ignorant views of other nations. I would gladly debate with you anything of reasonable stature, such as the benefits and weakness of our two great nations democracy's, but until a time that i feel you can do so, i will respectably not push this conversation any further or any other regarding the nature of Britain the U.S or any other nation.

Please appreciate the diversity of other nations, it is not your place to condemn the customs and traditions of an alien culture regardless of the friendship the two nations have and despite what you may regard as morally wrong.

already speaking out of my team member role; and on behalf of all the Great British citizens, i say i am dam proud to be British, dam proud to be English, dam proud of our great long history and i wouldn't change a thing about the history of our great nation.

As administrator of a porn site you might have guessed that I'm not a fan of the so-called far-right either, but for the sake of fairness: Danny is actually not from the US. :-)

I happen to like this site. I don't want to hear anything about you or anyone else messing with it or hiring people to mess with anyone here. If I even hear a rumor about you DDoSing this place, you'll be hearing from me pretty directly.

That out of the way, I don't see why this has even turned into a debate over who invented the internet. Why does it even matter? Tim Berners-Lee was recently awarded for his achievements, like creating HTML (which was NOT the first computer language...), and I think he deserves some respect for it, regardless of what country he is from. The modern ideal of the internet is a borderless place where all people can communicate, share ideas, and so on. Bringing nationalities and wordly things like rascism into it sort of defeats the purpose.

Care to back up that number with some facts? And quite frankly outside of a single small valley in California just how much of a hold does that industry have.

If your going to make broad statements, expect to have to back them up with facts.
..the US invented the internet and most of it is in english.
Yeah? So? The invention of the internet was not in it's infancy a tool for porn... although it obviously quickly took that bent. As for English, it's the international business language, and lets not forget that they spoke English in a few other countries a century or 2 (or 10 or 20) before we even existed, so the English language angle doesn't apply here.
So much for the ,,repressed,,
Actually, yeah, repressed is definitely the right word, when a split second flash of nipple during halftime fires up this puritanical nation like a rattled hornets nest and just a little bit north in Canada I saw a show on public access that had 2 hot women mostly nude and yes, all topless, flogging each other while some sock puppet jokes on about it.
indeed. It's like the abolition time when you can't get a beer, because it's prohibitted ..yet,the US consumed more whisky then ever before. Why is that?..Because they made it illegal, that's why..same with sex.
Sex is illegal? When did that happen? I thought we needed to make babies and stuff, even the thumpers down south don't go that far. Go forth and multiply and all that jazz.
Do you know how the internet originated?..because we were scared of the russians..so we devised a plan to put multiple servers in place,so if they take out the command center, there will be many left..however,the genious was the guy who set up the html codes.
D.
Yes, it was in 1962 originally when some dudes from MIT got together and started talking about linking computers together in a huge global network.

Eventually the head guy at DARPA started convincing folks of the feasability of such a thing and they started to write a big paper on it that came out in 1967 (oh, and a few dudes from England had presented a paper that ran along with theirs that further showed the potential of such a thing) So they started work on the concept that they called ARPANET.

by 1970 NWG completed the first stage of ARPANET. And then in 1972 they actually wrote the worlds first "E-Mail"

THAT, is how the internet originated... note the lack of Russians.

I agree that corpes screwing is distasteful; not something I'd ever want to own pictures/ film of. The point is this. Why should it be a criminal act to own pictures of corpse screwing, but not to own (and display in public) pictures of corpses being mutilated in public (news footage from Iraq two years ago, screened on UK TV), or corpse desecration (video games)?
Why should *sexualised* images be contraband, but not non-sexual images with the same content?
The Law will punish *sexuality* as such.

corpse screwing if thats the example we must use *sigh* is a criminal act because A) the person is dead, and so a removed member of society, an offense to the state B) that individual did not give consent. It is also illegal to give consent to such an act so it is illegal and since having images of extremely offensive nature is illegal, holding imagery of dead people being rammed is highly illegal. Where as consenting adults allowing their image to be used in the pursuit of profit, as long as does not contradict other laws regarding decency in imagery and pornography is legal.
I haven't read this proposed legislation through but i will soon and make a more informed view.
oh and images which you see on the news are provided to be educational and informative, a different nature from a pornography site, showing images of horribly deformed people after a horrific accident is still illegal which is why they have live broadcasts from accident events, because if it's live then its not their fault if a blown up body gets thrown in the way.

Hi alphahde5
I agree about consent. But the American soldiers whose corpses were mutilated then hung from a bridge by an angry crowd in Iraq, images of which went out on TV - and their families- did not consent to that either. So again, it must be stressed. The Law is not criminalising the image, but the state of mind of the viewer. It will be okay to have and display grotesque pictures and films, unless they are supposed to arouse sexual feeling. It's the sex that will be illegal, not the image.

well Im going guess your American and i wouldn't know where to start with American laws.
But there are guidelines with which broadcasting companies have to follow, i suppose the image your referring to is that of the one used in the film, Fahrenheit 911? the law does criminalize holding such images for personal use of a sexual nature, that is correct, but just like child pornography holding such images is illegal regardless of purpose, however if your a doctor holding those images for use in medical studies it is entirely proper.
however there are laws prohibiting ownership, usership and viewing of images even if it isn't for sexual purposes.
