Re: Best editing program for creating cock heros/PMVs?
Hi Guilherme_1988,
I started out with the free version of Wondershare Filmora. I was really surprised at how easy it was to just take some music, drop video clips over it, make transitions between the clip and BOOM...just a few minutes and something fairly professional looking. That was really cool, but I quickly ran into the limits of the free version. I was unwilling to pay for the full version, so I found a cracked version of Adobe Premiere Pro. I could do so much more and make video so much tighter. I still use Premiere Pro exclusively. If I was starting from scratch today I would 100% go with DaVinci Resolve. It's super powerful. It can do more than Premiere Pro. It IS professional level video editing. And the free version is more than capable of doing everything you need for creating CH videos. The pay version only adds a few things that really aren't relevant to us making these videos. I would switch to it if it wasn't so hard to teach this old dog new tricks...I still might.
For a beatmeter, when I started the only way to do it was super convoluted using Adobe After Effects. It was SUPER hard to do and it was the road block for a lot of creators. Then Kerkersklave created Beatmeter Generator viewtopic.php?p=261490#p261490 and that changed everything for me. It's easy to use, fast, and precise. For me it's perfect.

Most of the video editors will recommend you Adobe Premiere Pro simply because you can do everything you want with it, especially if you combine it with After Effects for asset creation. If you have some background with it or need more "professional" look, Premiere should be the one to go. This is the main software for video editing in the industry at the moment.
Sadly, my laptop cannot handle Adobe Premiere and my expertise is not that great with it anyways, so I stick with Wondershare Filmora. It has somewhat limited capabilities, but it's waaaaay more intuitive and you don't really need a single tutorial to start doing some quality stuff. So if you are a beginner in video editing and need something fast to start doing things from the first minute, I recommend you Filmora. It's still not the best software, but the newer versions give you enough versatility.
Keep in mind that both solutions are priced, though. There are some other tools that are free, like DaVinci Resolve, but haven't tried them myself to have a strong opinion.
For the beat part, you need a software to create the audio beat track and a software to make the visual beatmeter. For the audio beat track, I use FL Studio (not free), but I'm aware you can do it even with the most simple software like Audacity. There are tons of programs for that and all of them are good enough, to be honest. For the beatmeter, however, you gotta use Adobe After Effects. There is a tool in it to create the beatmeter in easy steps somewhere in the forum. I still got to learn that, so maybe other people can tell you more about it.
Someday I want to write a guide for the entire process of designing and building a whole CH. When I got the chance to make another production in the future, maybe.

I've been using Magix Video Pro all my life for video editing. I don't think that it is much better or worse than Adobe Premiere Pro, but you can still purchase it as a one time payment-version unlike Adobe that forces you into a monthly subscription.

I use Vegas Pro. Maybe it's just because I'm used to it, but I find it is more user friendly (but less stable) than Premiere Pro. With a bunch of plugins and fx packs, I can avoid going into After Effects for all but the most complex effects.

I personally use Vegas Pro - it's pretty intuitive and easy to learn. I'm on version 16 and it's been rock solid for me since I switched to it. I remember the older versions crashing quite a lot, especially on older hardware. It's also been bought by MAGIX and they started to modernize and improve it a lot after years of neglect from Sony.
Adobe seems to be the industry standard - just be warned that it uses Adobe UI...
Most people are ok with it. I personally think it's been designed by hostile aliens.
My uderstanding is that you can't really go wrong with any of the proffesional options. All of them are perfectly capable of doing all the things you regullarly see in CH edits which are pretty basic.

For After Effects there's the plugin made by myself here: viewtopic.php?f=25&t=19984Guilherme_1988 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 20, 2021 9:05 pm Thank you for all the feedback guys! Its too many to quote individually but all the answers here are welcome!
From which i understand, the free best program is Da Vinci resolve and the other options are good too but they are not free?
About the beats, i will follow dpl advice
Although as you've noticed already, AE is not free.
The other way people seem to be creating beats these days is using this tool (which i haven't tried myself as I have my own): viewtopic.php?f=25&t=21725

Re: Best editing program for creating cock heros/PMVs?
Just started playing around with Da Vinci Resolve a few days ago. Looks great so far but quite a steep learning curve. Luckily there are a lot of youtube tutorials.
Trying to get my head around Fusion and nodes at the moment to try and make decent looking title overlays. May take a while, but quite fun to learn something new.

Re: Best editing program for creating cock heros/PMVs?
I went from Premiere Pro and After Effects to DaVinci Resolve (with its Fusion module replacing After Effects, more or less), and I've been really happy with it. A huge benefit to Resolve is that it is free to use, or you can buy it for a one-time fee to unlock some more advanced features, as opposed to Adobe's expensive subscription model.
That said, I haven't run into anything that I can't do with DaVinci Resolve about as easily, or sometimes even easier, than in Premiere Pro. It really is a full featured video editing package and it is used professionally. So that is definitely my recommendation for starting out (and perhaps for as long as you want to edit). I don't miss Premiere Pro and After Effects yet, anyway.
For beatmeters, I love Beatmeter Generator, as others have recommended. It makes it really easy to make beats which can be imported into just about any video editing software you want to use.

I've also made 4-play, 4-play 2, Getting Down With The Thiccness, Fuck Hard Cum Harder, Filthy Cute and Kittens & Cream. You can stream them all on SpankBang or search up their announce threads here for other options. :)

Adobe Premiere Pro if you want to invest in your futur self. It is in my opinion the most capable program to edit but... it will kick you in the face at the beginning as it somewhat complicated, you will have a lot to learn. BUT, there is a lot of tuorial online that teach you basically everything you will need to know.
You can also create the beat bar or wathever you want moving or poping in Adobe Premiere Pro too... but it is tricky.

Re: Best editing program for creating cock heros/PMVs?
Resolve is the one to use right now. The only reason to use another one is that the creator may have some past experience or process that works and there is no reason to replace it. An example of that is the beat meter scripts in Premier and Vegas, from before Beatmeter Generator and Suck Less Audio.
I use BMG, Resolve, Photoshop, Synfig, Audacity, and Handbrake.
I've recently stopped needing Audacity, because Resolve's Fairlight improved, and BMG 0.3.1.
I used Synfig to animate my edge meters a few years ago. I could replace that part with Resolve's Fusion today. I can't replace BMG with Fusion, because doing the work in BMG is much faster.

I use Kdenlive, but I don't think it's the best option. It's the best open source editor I've used, though.
For graphics, Inkscape, and for beatmeters I've created custom Python scripts to do the work for me.
For music, Ardour digital audio workstation and Calf effects mostly. As I've stated earlier, my process starts with the soundtrack.
I'm always streamlining my production process but creating CH videos is hard work nevertheless.

For me still the best tool is Vegas, but for reasons people already mentioned in the thread - i'm used to it and I don't have patience to go outside my comfort zone. If I had to learn everything from scratch I would probably go for Resolve. Vegas has some stability problems, but is still working pretty well if you can handle it.
