Hey all, I've recently got my first estim device, a 3rdh. I've only got the pads and cables that it came with (two cables and four TENS pads). How would you recommend I set up for this tease without triphase?
And a related question, if I wanted to use triphase, what else would I need to buy? Would I need a special cable, or is there an adapter I could use instead? If an adapter works, I assume I'd need a third cable, but what exactly would I need to look at for this?
Sorry for all the questions, I'm totaly new to this, and thanks for your time!
Welcome to the party! Here are a couple of pointers.
It's a long, shallow learning curve. You're probably going to get frustrated and put it down and wonder what the hell everyone is making a big fuss about, and then you'll pick it up and get a setting or two right and go 'ohhhhh, THAT's what they're talking about'. And it only gets better from there.
I'd highly recommend getting some conductive rubber loops. They're incredibly versatile and, if you're handy, you can get a decent length and just cut it to size for your liking. I picked up the 8mm thick with some 12mm spring clamps and used a dremel to chamfer the ends down to a size that would fit in the clamps. It took some trial and error, and you can buy them completely pre-made to save the hassle.
I'm also a fan of some of the conductive cloths 'tubes' that are out there. They spread out the stimulation a lot more and are remarkably stretchy when wet. I haven't seen a lot of others mention these, so I may be in the minority here.
As for tri-phase, there are cables that are sold as 'tri-phase cables' and they're crazy expensive for what they are. Unless someone here can tell me why I'm wrong, all a tri-phase cable is is a cable with your positive leads going from your two positives on your e-stim device to the two positive electrodes, with the 2 negatives going from the e-stim device to a common negative electrode. I just hacked off the ends of some pads and some tens leads, soldered (or even just twisted and electrical taped) two female to one male lead to make a male-female splitter, and use that from my e-stim leads to combine the two negatives down to a single lead. Alternatively, if you're using loops, you can plug the two negative leads into the two ends of your loop to get a very similar effect.
And, as always, I'll add my final piece of advice; take it slowly. It's better to feel nothing at all than to feel you zapping your junk WAY too much.
Here's a couple of sites that specialize in e-Stim stuff. They're not very sophisticated sites, but they ship fast and have never let me down. There's also a rapidly increasing selection available on Amazon.
(I have no affiliation with either site below other than being a happy customer)
