Whats with all the spam lately? i thought this new registration process was only created to prevent this happening. But it seems, it is even worse now than before.

Re: How to react to forum spam
I've deleted a hunk of spam this evening. I'd like to reassure you all that the code system still appears to be preventing the creation of new spam accounts.
All the recent spam activity has been by old accounts. My guess is, when the door was open to sign up without checks, and codes, the spambots created dozens, hundereds, or possibly thousands of "sleeper" accounts. It's from these accounts that they are posting, not newly created ones.
As for clearing the spam, I'm afraid I've not had that much time to commit to Milo lately, and I can't guarantee I will have any more going forward.
Just keep reporting the spammers, and myself and the other forum mods will clear it as and when we can.

No problem, I know it can be frustrating when this spam builds up with no explanation or sign it's being dealt with. We will all keep trying to do our best to clear it when we can.

Maybe time to get rid of the non active mods and replace them with new to help deal with the spam, then it wont be such a large job for 1 person to do.

Re: How to react to forum spam
We can't just go around deleting accounts that have done nothing wrong, people use accounts on Milo for many different reasons, many users never post on the forum, but are active in chat. Others simply use the webteases, or even create them.Marno wrote: ↑Thu Jun 01, 2017 9:33 amMay I suggest that you find all accounts that are older than the new registration system, have no posts, and have not been logged into since they were created.
Delete them all.
If there are thousands of sleeper accounts, this will save you many hours over the coming months. It will also prevent a possibly disastrous situation where the bot owners decide to activate them all within a short time.
If there happens to be a bona fide account in there where the owner suddenly decides to log in after all this time, they will have to re-register.
So I'm afraid this just isn't a viable option.

I'm a huge fan of your mazes, and IMHO, this is far and away the best one yet. I love it. Well done!
