Hi guys, thanks for amazing work! This software looks promising :)

I've been testing the Skirmish tease for a while, it's fun :-D . Today I installed the new (?) version of Guideme from the first post and I observed a difference in the image resolution. I've put some pics with really high resolution (2000x 3000) into the "random" folder and on the previous version they were displayed well. On the new version however, they look crappy, like their resolution is not scaled. Previously, there used to be some scaling, I believe.

Is it about the pictures (should we use lower resolution?) or the software is not scaling the resolution properly? I'm quite a noob, so please elighten me :-) I believe it would suck if we had to be limited to low resolution.

i cant download guideme! i finish the "download" and nothing happens! help please

ok ive downloaded it, fix it
but not when i open it its just a black screen that says "tiltle, author"
what do i do?

Gisele is definitely a tribute to your teases, Kate is in several teases, I think it was in Desires that I first encountered her.

You should have a menu at the top, file and load should allow you to start a tease.
If you don't have a menu the most likely cause will be it does not like something in the vlc setup on your machine.
did you have vlc (videolan) already installed?

I was setting the background to a control and manually resizing the image, it is now an image in a browser control, so the browser is doing the resizing. I have not noticed a difference in quality.
if you want to put it somewhere I can access and pm me a link I will have a look.

I have the same Problem here. if i open the start.bat nothing happen and if i choose the GuideMe.jar a litte black window appears wich only Shows the current time.
vlc is already installed and updated

I have a small settings suggestion.
Could you ask for a birthdate instead of an age?
That way you dont need to change it every year and teases can use a birthday. Maybe keep the same variable so a tease will show an age when queried.

And in the user settings, whats the reason for slavename and MySubName?

Dates are difficult to code for (01/06/1980 is this the first of June or the sixth January? how do you cope with 30/02/1980?) so an age is easier for most people to code for.

Ultimately the User Settings are configurable, there is a text file that defines them (usersettings.xml and a special tease that allows the user to edit them userSettingsUI.xml) this is a beta test at the moment so none are fixed, it is probably good to have a consensus on what they should be if tease authors are going to rely on them.

There are currently 2 names for the main character (you) myName and mySubName the idea is for teases where a domme takes control of you and has a slave / sub name for you.
So myName could be "Mark" and mySubName could be "Stroker Toy"

So far there are three specifically for guideme.
It will also do any of the teaseme teases.
I am putting the finishing touches to a stand alone program to convert flash teases (which would work for teaseme as well)

I understand that GuideMe development is on hold, but I had a couple thoughts I'd like to share for possible consideration at which time development resumes:
  • 1. Would it be possible (or practical) to provide some sort of way to translate teases into another language? Teases in languages other than English are getting more common and sometimes it would be nice to read them. It's not overly difficult to use Google Translate to view a classic tease, but flash teases can be much more of a challege. I'm not sure if this would be done at the import stage, or the "display" stage. Would non-Milovana GuideMe usage benefit from viewing translated Guides?

    2. Could there be an on-screen button (or a hotkey) to toggle full-screen viewing? This is my biggest issue with GuideMe currently, as I use my TV as a secondary monitor (extended desktop). The way full-screen is implemented now (with a preference which requires restarting the application) I have thus far been unable to get the program to view in full-screen on my 2nd display. It always defaults to the primary display. I thought, if I could move the program window to the 2nd display, then initiate full-screen (like I do with TeaseMe), it should enlarge on the currently used display, right?

    3. I really miss the Debug window from TeaseMe. GuideMe has a lot of logging and a Debug mode (the Delay button is a nice touch!), but the separate window that TeaseMe uses is invaluable. Being able to easily check how many pages a tease is, move forward or backward to any page (try different branches/responses), view hidden/secret delay times, etc are all really helpful. It's also really beneficial for learning how some of the more complicated teases work. I would love to see this feature eventually included in GuideMe.

Sounds like a good idea, the api costs money so I wouldn't use that.
However the free website may work.
I have a working version of the download functionality in Java as a standalone application.
I would probably add the translation in at the point it was downloaded rather than do it on the fly every time.

toggle full-screen
The current development version is working dual screen (images displayed on the primary monitor, text and buttons on the secondary). I should be able to add a setting to choose which screen to use.
In the short term Guideme uses the primary monitor, so you could switch your TV to be the primary monitor to get it to work full screen and then switch back when you finish.

Debug window
I didn't use the debug screen in tease me, which is the main reason I have not implemented anything like it for Guideme. If it is useful then I can have a look at implementing something.
It may be worth having a list of what people feel is missing on the debug side, is the teaseme debug window "perfect" or can it be improved or provided in a better way.
If I am going to write something it may be better to do exactly what people need rather than just replicating what teaseme does.
(I must admit I find it a challenge to not "cheat" when I do a tease if the debug option is there so didn't want to make it too easy :blush: )

The debug window in TeaseMe is good. I only use it to be able to hop between different pages, although I've used it once or twice to get the name of a picture. What it's missing though is a list of set and unset flags, and a way to change those flags. Also, some way to get out of the the dreaded "This page has already been marked as seen" bug in some teases which will terminate your play sessions permanently would be good to have.

If I go to fullscreen in GuideMe, I can still see my taskbar in Windows. It'd be good if I could get rid of it. Also, I need to restart the app for the fullscreen effect to take place, so a button would be nice.

Hi there,
maybe also a short feedback on the debug window: I do use it very often. I agree with the "cheating problem" :) but I'd say the possibilities opend are to be considered. Some examples:

Some teases have an "Intro" you cant skip, but where nothing than text is displayed (which is okay and necessary for the first or second time, but not if you want to play more often). I use debug window to simply skip this. Same applies for teases that have, say in the middle of the tease a series of pages with "no action". Sometimes it is assigned say 20sec for one page with 2 lines of text, followed by another, follwed by a third - and this is not for "cool down" reasosns or intended part of the storyline to make you waiting, but simply to much time considered for the slides. Sure also beginners can easily change the code in this respect...but debug window is simpler :)
Then, especially in long teases with maybe multiple instances/parts I want maybe just play my favourite part/girl/game/whatever. I this is not implemented by jumpoints-->debug window.
To me it seems the special advantage compared to guideme so far is, that you can directly select any page (not just skip one) you want.
Last: it is cool to see where different buttons lead you... for sure when playing a first, a second or even a third time a tease it is better to be surprised. But after a while it is simply interesting to try new things and to know in advance a bit about what will happen (just a loop? new path? missed something?)... maybe for coding experts it is straight and simple to have one look on the code... but for me it is better to look in the debug windwo in order to now which button leads to which page etc.

So just my two cents. Maybe it helps experts to understand better how "dummies" (in terms of coding) or generally other users use the debug window and hence to implement something appropriate.



tl; dr: Debug window with directly selectable pages is a valueable addon to teasme as it allows to play in a different way and to get all and everything out of every tease
