Yes, you need GuideMe to open and play the tease.
See https://github.com/EroticDevelopment/GuideMe

If you only discovered the site 2 days ago, downloading (and modifying) these teases is a little more advanced.
You might want to just try playing online for a bit. Many of the more advanced teases here don't work properly when downloaded, and you need some coding experience to figure out why and fix them up, assuming it's even possible.

Thanks! it works like a charm! but is there a way to make the text appear at the bottom of the pics instead of the sides?

No, unfortunately that's a fundamental difference in the way GuideMe and EOS work.

I tried downloading "The Cursed Ascent" ( https://milovana.com/webteases/showtease.php?id=45666 ) and loading it in GuideMe just gives a black screen.

Many years ago I used a downloader and GuideMe to play teases offline and this is my first attempt since then. Is this a problem with the tease, with GuideMe, or with the downloader?

I did a quick test downloaded of this tease, and it's most likely an issue with the downloader. This teases seems to use a great deal of javascript (as evidenced by the many warnings and informational messages the downloader issues). Javascript is the toughest part for the downloader to convert properly.

I'll have a look at this tease over the next couple days and see what's breaking and if I can make it work. I'll let you know what I find, and if I get it working I'll post the XML file for you.

I appreciate your effort on this project.

Many teases are short, single-session experiences and most of the longer ones have save functions. Teases like the one I'm having trouble with are long, multi-session teases that don't have a save function and the only teases where I use GuideMe. It sucks keeping a tease open for days on end where if anything goes wrong like a browser/system update, an accidental closure of the browser, or even accidentally hitting the back button you lose all progress and have to start over.

Unfortunately, it seems that these long, complex teases are the ones that the downloader has the most trouble with the XML. I hope that one day the downloader can handle all teases, or all publishers put in a save function for longer teases.

Thank you again for your hard work.

My apologies for not getting back here and posting an update. I got wrapped up in other things, most notably an edging challenge here on Milovana. (The first line of my signature tells you everything you need to know :lol:)

I did look into this, and it is the downloader trashing a bunch of the javascript code. It's a bug I was aware of but had not gotten around to fixing yet because it only comes up now and then in certain teases, because of the way the code is written. In this specific tease it happens a bunch of times. I was going to try and manually fix it, but there were just too many instances and I decided it was time to finally rewrite that part of the downloader code.

I started on that, and made good progress, then got busy with those other things :-D . I'm finished that edging challenge, and caught up on other stuff, and will be getting back to work on the downloader over the next week. It will probably still take at least a month to get it all done and tested and released. If during testing I get to the point this tease is working properly, I can post the working XML file for you.

Sorry about the delays, but stay tuned, and have fun!

No problem, I appreciate the update and I hope the progress with the downloader goes smoothly!

Hi PlayfulGuy! I'm running the script from source on linux, and I'm getting a crash when trying to download The Estim Experiment V2 with "Adapt javascript for GuideMe" disabled. Just before the program crashes, the log includes this line

Code: Select all

File "/home/username/Downloads/MiloDownloader/EOSTease.py", line 2986, in add_init_module
  if script['init'] != "":
    ~~~~~~^^^^^^^^
KeyError: 'init'
It seems like changing the if statement to
Code: Select all
if script.get('init', "") != "":
fixes the issue. Apologies for not having the whole log, I'm having to type out the log manually as it doesn't save anywhere and I just have a screenshot as the program is closing
Thanks for the note. I'll get that fix added to the next release (in fact I may have fixed it already in my current code).
I've no idea when the next release will be though. I've not had much time (or energy) to work on the downloader lately, but things are happening that are making me want to get at it.
I'm currently in the process of switching from Windows to Linux myself, and it's taking a fair bit of time to adjust, but I'm loving it.
I'll have to try running GuideMe and the downloader on linux myself soon.
If you have any tips on getting GuideMe to work on linux I'd appreciate it.
Welcome to Linux! I've not tried GuideMe myself (only recently started messing around with LeadMe) but your downloader works pretty well out of the box. For some reason putting an invalid link into the input box crashes my entire Wayland session, but that seems like more of a Hyprland/python problem then with MiloDownloader
If you can give me an example of an invalid link that causes that I'll add that to the list of bugs to look into.
However, if LeadMe, and the downloader althyna wrote for it work well enough, Guideme, and my downloader may become irrelevant.
Just anything with a url that doesn't point to an actual milovana tease. I really don't think it's a you issue though
I'll look into just in case though. The downloader should catch an invalid URL gracefully.
Or maybe the way it handles the error triggers some other condition...
Since I'm moving to linux myself it's worth the effort.
