I don't really care what you do as long as you do it at least three times a week and I see some results.
Pushups are easy, incorporate a lot of muscle groups, and can be done anywhere. I'm sure you could find a routine online that will start you off slow and increase the amount over time. Start off doing them on your knees if you have to.
Or you could use this bar thingy you keep in the basement for show, that is if you can even lift the bar with no weight on it.
