As far back as you can remember, you've always been smaller and weaker than the other boys, not to mention the girls. While your classmates were developing into young men, you seemed trapped in boyhood, especially "down below."
Not only did genetics sell you short, you got cheated in the personality department, too. Oh, you were everybody's friend, sure enough. At least, the cool kids didn't mind you awkwardly tagging along like a stray mutt -- as long as you did their homework, ran their errands, and lent them cash that you never asked returned.
But you were just a hanger-on; never for a second would anyone place you in that cool crowd. You were timid, cowardly -- only "funny" in the sense of being "goofy."
Girls might talk with you if they were feeling charitable, but the minute you clumsily tried to make a play, their scornful laughter cut you right down to size.
