Unfortunately, your suspicions were correct. There was not enough time to get to the shuttlebay, and you're only halfway there as you realise this.
The ship explodes as another salvo launched from Eden's surface impacts with the vessel, wrenching it at first in two, and then into dozens of tiny pieces. You are sucked into the vacuum of space, but not before your body is charred horribly by the explosion.
