Beat matching dillema

So...I figured I would post this as a new topic in case anyone else has the same issue, currently or in the future.

I'm incorporating the stronger beat sound using HammerHead and Adobe Premiere Pro. The problem I'm currently faced with, is that the beat for one song starts in between the two smallest ticks on the timeline. If we were discussing tape measures, it would be between two 1/32 lines (if 32nds were the smallest increment).

Where this becomes problematic, is that I cannot line up the additional beat file in between those lines. It automatically snaps to the line.

Does anyone know of a simple solution here?

Thanks in advance for any input!

I do the beatmatching in Adobe Audition, and then export the beat track as a separate mp3 and send that to After Effects to create the beatmeter. Audition lets you zoom in and position sound clips with 1/10000 of a second precision or something like that. Certainly nowhere near the simplest solution, but it works :)

I would start by sating that hammerhead is garbage. Use fruity loops. Simplifies matters significantly.

As for the problem you're having I'm not quite sure what you mean. You should be able to tailor a beat pattern to match the song. Without having the particular case in from of me, I don't know what could possibly be the problem.

I also use audacity for my audio mixing instead of adobe. I only use adobe to create the beatmeter.

Sure enough, after spending 45 minutes searching and finally posting here to find a solution, I find exactly what I'm looking for.

In Premiere, on the timeline, there's a tiny little drop down option menu which has the selection available to "Show Audio Time Units". It's exactly what I was after, as it allows much more precise alignment, since it's broken into milliseconds instead of frames per second.

Thanks for the input guys! I might give Fruity Loops a try for the remained, as I must agree, HammerHead is poop.

In fruity loops you're going to want to set all of your different beat patterns out as different tracks using different beat patterns. Then once this format is all set up it's easy to just change the bpm for the different tracks and go down the list of pre-set tracks and save them. Just make sure you're exporting the song instead of the pattern and you can get a variety of beat patterns in long lengths in no time without having to sit there and listen to hammerhead bang them out.

It's sooooo much better.
