Chat clients restrictions in effect

As a test to continue to improve the stability of chat, we're only allowing a specific list of clients to connect to the chat.

For the week of July 29th to August 4th, the allowed clients will be:
  • The official chat on the website
  • iChat
  • Spark
  • Trillian
Please leave a comment below about what other clients you want us to add permission for, if this policy becomes permanent. Please discontinue the use of any other clients for this week (your session will be kicked almost as soon as you join).

The main issue we're investigating is possible problem caused by the Empathy client, though we unfortunately don't have a way to exclude only that client easily.

Please note if you use the chat link from Milovana this will in no way, shape or form affect you.

Massive thanks to Turtle for his continued efforts to make the chat more stable and functional. :-)

I use (paid for) trillian for chat. Windows and Android.

With Milo Chat however
It will not connect to Milo chat on Android.
Works fine for Windows

Turtle said to use XABBER, On my Android tablet
But have yet to make it work.

Do the team have any preferred Android and IOS Apps for our chat rooms.

As an extra;
I find that many of the WiFi Hotspots will not allow connection to Milo.
3g is OK for forums
but not chat or teases.
Could we have a proxy or different url access.

Pidgin. Or some client that is available on linux. I don't use the chat, so just ignore this.

I'll add Pidgin to the list for when we start adding stuff back. If you for some reason needed a client this week, Spark is available at http://www.igniterealtime.org/projects/spark/ and is cross platform (Windows/Linux/Mac OSX)

@Capelaw that one was already at the top of my list to add back :)

We're continuing to not advise against Empathy as a client, though there are no longer any formal chat client restrictions.

Thank you everyone... Please see the status for chat thread for newest about chat
